Can of Corn: Dream Roadtrip

Welcome back everyone, I'd like to thank you all for taking a break from Pokemon GO to read this post, it really is appreciated....

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!
  • Write about baseball using the theme (or not) on the dates provided (or thereabout) from March-October. Just make it baseball!
  • Use the button in your post somewhere (at the end or whatever) and link back to me + P.J.
  • Go to one of our blogs the day this comes up (or thereafter) and linkup! The linkup will be "live" for a week after the date.
  • Visit other blogs, read, comment, and make some new baseball pals!
  • Have a cold beer (because let's be real, anything I'm involved in involves a cold beer...)
Can of Corn 2016 - Dates
Today we're talking road trips! I'm about 5050 on road trips. Sometimes I really dig them, other times I'm literally the worst to take on them because I literally have to pee all the time. It's ridiculous. ANYWAYS. I'm going in the direction of dream baseball trip, first of all I'm going on a pretty legit trip next weekend: hitting Camden Yards, whatever the gNats call their ballpark, and there's even talk of a road trip to Pittsburgh.... So in one little trip I'm all but doubling how many parks I've been to ever!

I really would like to win the lottery and be able to take a summer and hit all of the parks in one trip, but you know I probably have the right amount of luck for that lotto ticket. I'd have to prioritize. My first stops would definitely be Fenway and Wrigley. Hands. Down. Next, I'd really like to see the Rockies and that terrifying sculpture in Miami just to say I'd been there. And Seattle, because. Seattle Grace. duh.

Where do you want to go on your baseball roadtrip? Wanna pick me up on the way? I promise to not drink any water before we get in the car. Pinky promise!

Can of Corn: Promotions

I have a really funny story about how I was worried about officially posting something about my new house, then an hour after I instagrammed  a picture of my mailbox yesterday I got an email from the mortgage people. That's a story for the day after everything is actually official. (because now I'm extra superstitious.) Anyways, it's time for the Can of Corn linkup!

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!

Can of Corn 2016 - Dates
PROMOTIONS. Guys, that's what I miss most about my MiLB times. Yesterday facebook told me it had officially been too many years since we had a promotion for the Roller Derby + all dressed up like we were in the roller derby (my name was Delta SLAMMA' -- I still have the t-shirt) I also am a huge sucker for puns (see: me insisting on a May the 4th Be With You Star Wars night for every team I worked for)
I also really dig the promotions that incorporate a non-baseball activity into the day, like a pre-game 5K or post game concerts because then I can drag my non-baseball people to things with me, duh.

What are your favorite promotions? Or even better what promotions would you like to see? you're welcome in advance, baseball folks.

Can of Corn: Favorite Ballparks

I know I've said it before, but I swear I'm about to get really back into the blog-o-sphere, because #kaseybuysahouse IS HAPPENING. Until I get all of that sorted out, I will probably be shady still. HOWEVER. You can count on me for the monthly baseball linkup no matter what! This month we're talking ballparks!

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!

Can of Corn 2016 - Dates
NOW BALLPARKS. I know we've covered that my experience in major league parks is limited to four (er five if you count Atlanta Fulton County and Turner Field as separate...) : Turner Field, AT&T, Chase Field, and whatever they're calling the Texas Rangers' park these days.. Nothing really stood out to me about Ranger ballpark, sorry Texas... I really liked the roof at Chase (I had a chance to see the ballpark with the roof open AND closed. like, best of both worlds man.) Even though it was frigid, I loved that the bay is right behind the outfield at AT&T. OBVIOUSLY I have some deep loyalty to the Ted.

HOWEVER! I am going to add two, yes two, new ballparks to my list (er. check them off my list?) at the end of July! I'm going to visit Jen and catching an O's game AND a gNats game! Two birds, one plane ticket. SO it happens to fall two weeks after we talk about our dream baseball road trips, but you know I won't be doing that much driving anyways.

I have been to my fair share of MiLB parks -- but my favorite MiLB park has most to do with the experiences there rather than the ballpark itself. not to say a lot of my blood, sweat, and tears aren't a part of that park now. I'd still pick Recreation Park or whatever they're calling the park that the Rawhide play in now. That was my first job out of college, my first time living more than two hours from my parents. My first time on my own. There were a lot of ups and downs but man did I love it.

NOW it's your turn! What are your favorite ballparks? I know you're surprised that I haven't been to many, being the biggest baseball fan you know, but I'm working on it.

Can of Corn: Memories

Can we just have a moment of silence for the Braves? Just, like, real quick..........

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!

Can of Corn Challenge

SO. Baseball memories. I have so so so many. You know, a lifetime of them duh. My all time favorite events working for teams were definitely anything firework related. I love fireworks guys. I could see a show every night of the week + still love them. I am just a giant 7 year-old. Even when I was in Cali + we had to pick up the pieces of the fireworks after the show, I loved every second of it.
ALSO two summers ago I got to see WEEZER which was pretty kickass. I'm excited for the lineup the Braves have this year too. Post game concerts are so fun because you get a whole ball game and then some! Plus. A free Weezer concert comeON. admit it, Buddy Holly is stuck in your head now...
Also also any and all post season games I've ever been to. Sometimes I get chills just thinking about them. I don't want to post any of those pictures though because it just bums me out man. The whole "worst start in Atlanta ever" is really harshing my vibe. SO cheer me up! Join us with your favorite baseball memories!!! I can't wait to read all of the stories!

7th Inning Stretch!!

So, in spite of being a terrible blogger as of late, Allison kept me in line + reminded me that it wAS ALREADY THE THIRD WEEK IN JULY. I can't deal you guys. I'm not prepared for life. I got the big kid job + immediately forgot how to adult in the rest of the ways. I solemly swear I'll be better at adulting soon. or not soon.

THE RULES ARE SUPER EASY:

  • write about baseball on the third Thursday of every month this season. if you're stumped, check out our prompts. if you're not stumped, we wanna read what you have too!
  • use the button! or just link back to me + Allison (WE CAN DO ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIAS TOO!)
  • link up!

  • 7th Inning Stretch Link Up
  • make new friends who like baseball!
  • have a cold beer.
okay, that last step is optional, but I mean, I'm gonna do it. SO. Here are our suggestions (I use 'our' lightly, they're 100% Allison's idea.. lalalalaaa)
  • April 16th : pick your pretend fantasy team!
    • Only pick players who are currently on a major league roster
    • Choose 8 players for your starting lineup, 5 starting pitchers, and 2-3 relievers??
    • I believe there should be a constitutional amendment against the Designated Hitter (name that movie for bonus points..) so just don't draft them. or lose points at a position. #sorryboutcha AL.
    • the rules are made up + the points don't matter
  • May 21stfavorite ballpark(s)? Why?
  • June 18th : All-Star picks and predictions
  • July 16th : best promotions and theme nights, or what promos/themes would you plan for your team?
  • August 20th : if I was commissioner...
  • September 17th : favorite baseball books + movies (I can't promise I'll like you more if you pick Casey at the Bat..... but I can't promise you I won't.....)
  • October 15th : recap your fantasy team, share favorite moments, season highlights, fun stories, update your World Series Predictions.
SO. I'm going to be even worse right now + direct you to my favorite things about MiLB games. SO link up your baseball posts all month long + don't step in the chalk so I can get back in the swing of things ahahahhaha see what I did there? see? I crack myself up and be a way better blogger in the very near future.

Life Uh, Finds A Way...

HEY REMEMBER ME? I know you do. I haven't been quite as MIA this week as I was last week. I can almost 100% promise that next week will be even better. I might even get back in the every day thing, but no promises. Anyways, obviously I had to join in on #HashtagHumpday because you know. duh. (Also, first confession. sometimes I can be really creepy on instagram. so when I went to get the html for #HashtagHumpday I definitely went back + stalked Laura's instagram.)
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
I just started watching Parks & Rec. You know, I was kind of bored with my HIMYM reruns + needed something to get me through until season two of Kimmy Schmidt. So I'm hooked. I don't know how life was before Netflix happened. Do you ever wonder? Like, what did we do before we could binge on tv shows? #thatisunreasonable #ithasntbeenaroundthatlong
source
I haven't given an explanation to anyone for my celebration snap chats, being MIA, or talking about studying because I don't want to jinx it. In related news I sassed someone for saying that there's no possible way the zombie apocalypse could happen. so. #notsuperstitious #justalittlestitious #okayalotstitious

Our new house involves parking in a driveway. This driveway is a lot easier to get out of if you back in to it. There are lots of obstacles to backing into the driveway. Including the landlord who likes to park at the very top of the driveway making it necessary to make about a sixteen point turn to get into it. #butimgettingreallygoodatparking #oratleastnothittingthehouse #yet........

I saw Jurassic World over the weekend. I loved it. I read on the internet that they were mad about the chick running around in high heels? I'm kind of confused. At what point while she was running around trying to not be eaten by the dinosaurs was she supposed to swing by and change shoes? honestly? should she have been running around barefoot? (oh, well I guess I probably would have opted for barefoot maybe...) anyways. it's good. you should see it. I want to see it again, let's go see it!  I did miss Ian Malcom. Let's be real. #hesababe #butsoischrisspratt #CANIHAVEAPETRAPTORORWHAT
THIS IS NECESSARY.
Okay. on THAT NOTE. I gotta go study some more. What is up with everyone? Can you focus post Ian Malcom gif? I didn't think so. HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Hashtag Humpday Bookworm Edition.

I have been so prepared all week, ALL WEEK I TELL YOU! Then yesterday, the wheels just came off. hey. none of that "Kasey, yesterday was only Tuesday. That's not very far into the week nonsense okay? Okay. SO ANYWAYS. Here's the reason: I found a new book series to love. HASHTAG OBSESSED.
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
I don't know about you, but I was that kid in line at the midnight release of Harry Potter books + I would be finished with them in a couple of days (you know because my parents would insist that I HAD to eat or sleep or something else nonessential.) Like, I was that girl walking around reading at the same time. #booknerd #notsorryaboutit #booksaremyfriendsokay
source
So I mentioned in my summer to do list that I was going to try to read books I hadn't read before. Kalyn mentioned she was reading a series, so when I went to lunch I was off to the library to see if they would let me pay my $2 from 2005 for whatever they didn't remember me owing it for. WELL I WAS WRONG. First, I went to a library that's apparently not part of the PINES library system, so they didn't even know what I was talking about AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY $35 FOR A LIBRARY CARD. #butIcanBUYbooksforthat #thatsalotofdollars #atleast7beers
source
So, off I went to better spend less than $35 on books to read. I walked into Books A Million and the very first book I see is the first one of the Outlander series. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SIGN. I buy the one with the original cover (not the one with the tv series cover. nope. #booksnob) and head back to work. #littledidIknow #butwaittheresmoretothisstory
source
SO AFTER WORK, it's been a helluva day, I decide to sit down by the pool and start reading. BOOM two hours pass, I only realize this because a huge storm is building and I realize I have to get the chickens back in their house and the dogs inside... SO I get the dogs inside and the storm has knocked out the TV, obviously a sign that I should be reading more, so I figure I'll just read until it's dinner time. THEN BOOM THREE HOURS PASS. Then I accidentally stayed up until midnight reading. Also I forgot to eat dinner. #howdoesthathappen #hooked #cantstopwontstop
source
soooooo that's why this post wasn't preplanned. today I've already had to ration myself to just a chapter with coffee. So I'm obviously in a hurry to get done with work so I can make dinner and accidentally read until midnight again..... How's your week going? Have you read the Outlander series yet?

Thursty Thursday Tequila Things!

FIRST OF ALL. Let's talk about that alliteration. You're welcome. Anyways. I don't have anything super fancy to share in the way of new drink recipes. I've been doing a lot of Corona + liiiime (i will be your maaain squeeze..) because -- no dishes duh. ANYWAYS. The internet has been all about tequila lately (or maybe the internet is targeting me....) and I had to share some of the best stuff!

I was adding songs to my never ending country music playlist, I thought "oh, I should totally add all of the country songs about tequila!" because, you know, it's my brain doing the thinking. I discovered this Kenny Chesney jam + I have no idea how I haven't heard it before. One, I am pretty sure I bought all of his CDs in the early 00's, two, it's about tequila, and three, it's perfect.

THIS WATERMELON SHOT GLASS. It even suggests you fill it with tequila. stay tuned, I'm totally trying this ASAP.

You know how there are "suggested pins" on Pinterest now? Well mine are usually one of two things. Travel destinations or tequila drinks. I pin all sorts of other stuff, but Pinterest know's what's up man. Thanks to those pins, I've discovered this post about boozy popsicles. So we'll see how those compare to my deep fried tequila shots.
Okay, so who's ready for margaritas + queso now? Because I definitely am. Do you have any tequila recipes I need to try?!
Hopelessly Ever After

HASHTAG HUMPDAY!!

Ahhhh! I am so excited to be cohosting with Laura todaaaaaaaaayyy! Are you excited? I get to cohost TWO WEEKS IN A ROW. *insert sassy brunette emoji here* Anyways, here's the button
Hashtag Humpday

So. I'm really scared to look at any form of social media because I didn't watch the second night of the premiere of the bachelorette. I don't want to know what happened. I don't think. So don't tell me okay!? okay. #iwasbusy #thanksTiVo #isTiVoevenathing #DVRALLTHETHINGS

Yesterday, I happened to log into blogger at just the right time. My pageviews were 69,000 AND my pageviews for last month were 6,960. I lol'ed for literally ten minutes because I'm an adult. Obviously. #grownupbutnot #adulting #maturity
I am SO OVER PACKING. But. even worse I don't want to think about unpacking. HOWEVER. I have the best best best best BEST ever trick -- when you're wrapping up your glasses + cups -- use your t-shirts! You're welcome. #kaseyandtheneverendingmove #SATURDAYSATURDAYSAAAAATURDAYYYYY

What's up with everyone else? HEY DON'T FORGET TO LINK UP FOR 7TH INNING STRETCH TOMORROW!!

Kitchen Sink Sangria

Who has two thumbs + edited these photos but forgot to upload them in time for last Thursty Thursday? THIS GIRL! So. Let's talk sangria. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and that's what happened a couple weekends ago. I went to a wedding shower and some how came home with like pounds of fresh fruit. I wasn't going to be able to eat it all before it went bad, so obviously it meant it was sangria time, right?
kitchen sink sangria
So, I'm not too worried about the arsenic or whatever in two buck chuck. I'll gamble with it. So, I like I said, I came home with a bunch of fruit. I had some rum, grabbed two bottles of merlot from TJ's, and went to work. I checked pinterest + found all sorts of fancy recipes, but decided to go for it.
  • 2 Bottles of Red Wine
  • roughly a cup of rum....
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • splash of Grand Mariner
  • fresh fruits
I mixed all of this in that super cute [margariiita] pitcher, covered the pitcher with plastic wrap, and let it sit over night! You know, so the fruit gets good + boozy. It. Was. DELICIOUS. you know, if I do say so myself.... Also, please notice the mess I made trying to pour the wine in the pitcher. Why anyone thought it was reasonable to make countertops white is beyond me. What are you sippin' on this Thursty Thursday?

Hopelessly Ever After

April: Through The Lens

HELLO HOW ON EARTH IS IT MAY ON FRIDAY? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm beyond ready for summer, and SUPER pumped to move to the Virginia Highlands at the end of May, but wasn't I just in Europe or counting down to baseball season? Has it REALLY been a whole month since I finished 30 Days at the Barre? Okay. Well how about we see what happened according to my camera + instagram?
1 - 3: First of all, I 'grammed more food that normal because of Helene's #30PhotosInbetween. I'm pretty proud of that queso one, because I captioned it "in queso emergency" guys I am the funniest.
4: HAD to catch a River Dogs game while I was in Charleston, I really think you should check out your local MiLB team tooo.
5: Embracing my inner flower child
6 + 7: I really like to force my love on my little brothers...
9: mom + I went to the Zoo + I THINK I AM GOING TO GET TO MEET AN ELEPHANT GUYS.
10:  A professional photographer took this super adorable picture of me + put it on the internet.
11: a super soggy Braves home opener!

What did you get up to in April?

GUYS IT'S BACK!

Okay. OKAY. I AM SO EXCITED I CAN'T EVEN USE LOWERCASE LETTERS. Around The Hornwas so much fun that obviously we had to do something else for the regular season! SO. Okay. So that was a lot of capital letters + shouting (does your reading voice shout at you when things are in all caps? I READ THEM LOUDER IN MY HEAD!) For good measure, here's a love song about cheeseburgers.

Bloom

Okay. I thought that I broke blogger for a solid 24 hours. That was pretty terrifying. I apparently didn't, but you have to let me know if tomorrow's post looks weird or comes out in all HTML or whatever. ANYWAYS. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack for Write or Die Wednesday!

Guys. I don't know if you have noticed or not, but I have a thing for flowers. I love them. I need fresh flowers in my house. All. The. Time. Did you know today's pollen count is 2,256? Yesterday, when I was driving to the gym, the air was yellow. There was so much pollen that THE AIR WAS TOO SATURATED WITH POLLEN TO BE CLEAR. It's okay. BECAUSE FLOWERS.

If you don't already accept the obsession, let's take a quick instagram check.

flowers in my hair? check.

I even have pens at my desk that are wrapped in florists tape with big fake flowers at the top. I might have a problem. But. But. But. They're just so pretty. I think they make the world so happy. What do you think?

Wanderlust Wishlist

GUYS. It's no secret that I have been bitten by the Wanderlust bug + that I love a good link up + low + behold I found one that combines the two! (by found I mean Maddie found my blog + told me about her link up + obviously I loved it.) The prompt for April was: the most memorable place you've traveled + why. I though HELLO EUROPE because it was my first ever real adventure and I did it all. by. myself. I feel like I've hammered that into y'all enough lately so I thought I would pick places I want to travel now that I've started.

FIRST OF ALL. This list will probably get longer rather than shorter. I assume that you can take this list + my wanderlust pinterest board as my still-not-conclusive-list-of-adventures

  • Tulips in Amsterdam
  • Meet elephants in India AND Africa
  • Yacht Week
  • Versailles gardens in the summer, really most of France in the summer..
  • Machu Picchu
  • San Fermín Festival in Spain
  • 2018 World Cup
  • 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro
  • Oktoberfest in Munich
  • Mardi Gras in New Orleans
  • Carnival in Brazil
  • Thailand.
  • Australia.
  • New Zealand.
  • Stay in a tree house in Costa Rica
  • The Greek Isles
  • Barcelona
  • Everywhere on this list (maybe my own boozy tour of Europe in general....)
  • Turks + Caicos
  • Ireland. all of it.
  • Scotland.
  • The Muggle Tour in London.
That's just a start. Let's be honest. I would live out of my suitcase for the rest of my life if it meant I got to see everything. Where do you want to go?

The Endless Weeked

March: Through The Lens

Hey HEY hey guys. If April showers bring May flowers, then what do Mayflowers bring????

PILGRIMS! oh man. you're welcome for that one. I'm hiiiiilarious. Yesterday I was really proud of "what's the difference between a fish + a piano?"
ba dum tisssss
ANYWAYS. bad jokes aside, March was fun. I'm doing a happy dance for April + keeping this short because who has two thumbs + gets to go to the zoo today?! THIS GIRL!
  1. WE SAW DAMIEN RICE LAST NIGHT. high school Kasey is still flipping out about it.
  2. I FINISHED 30 Days at The Barre
  3. Instagrams of flowers for daaaaaaayyys
  4. Obviously a date with my main man, Jose. (actually, don't tell him. they use a different tequila in mambo taxis.....)
  5. taking Kasey At The Bat literally playing on a super fun coed softball team (even if we're not so good at winning)
  6. Adulting really well by jumping in puddles.
  7. it's officially wedding season guys.
All That's Glittered
OBVIously the great phone debacle of 2015 caused me to be a little short on pictures this month. Don't worry, I instagrammed three times yesterday to make up for it. PLUS I'm doing Helene's Insta challenge now! Are you?

OH. you can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish!!! you're welcome again.

Friday Favorites!

Can we go back + just make yesterday Friday? The weather was soooooooooooooo pretty + it was warm + sure felt like Friday. Today it's all cold + gloomy. How did it even get so cold? Like. what's up Mother Nature? I thought we were good.

OKAY BUT HAVE YOU HEARD KACEY MUSGRAVES NEW JAM? She's basically my spirit animal. Mad props to Jen for making me listen to it that first time.

I've been playing along with Melyssa for #TNCLovesSpring on the Instagram + I'm really digging the excuses to post like, nothing but flower pictures. I'm particularly proud of this one:
A photo posted by Kasey Decker (@kdsmoove) on
SPEAKING OF INSTAGRAM. I'm pretty sure St. Patrick's Day didn't even happen because Sarah didn't instagram it, (oh hey, and neither did I...) Caroline pointed out that we've fooled them , and Helene hit it on the head about why she follows you on Instagram. Now I will shamelessly embed another insta because I can. Sorry 'bout it.
The Around The Horn linkup is over (big sad face here. this is not a favorite) BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS everyone loved it + I had SO MUCH FUN -- so I'm brainstorming a new linkup with Allison! Any ideas? Anything you want to write about? Anyone wanna go to a Braves game this summer?! HEY BASEBALL SEASON IS LIKE NEXT WEEK GUYS.
Last but noooot least, five of my favorite posts from this week:
  1. Jen will convince you that you, too, can run a marathon + subsequently the world
  2. Michelle tries out pins + tells you whether or not they really work (yeah this is from last week, so what? what are you going to do about it?)
  3. Kati Rose shares probably the best "welcome spring" playlist ever. Spoiler alert, it has Hanson on there.
  4. Kerri has all sorts of fun new lipstick shades you should totally be excited about.
  5. Kristin made what promises to be a fun + super easy spring grapefruit cocktail. I mean, if it has fruit in the word it's good for you right?
That's it! That's all I have today! It's five things so I'm totally going to play over at Karli's place.  What are your favorite things this week??

Around The Horn: Favorite Team + A World Series Prediction!

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS IS THE VERY LAST WEEK OF AROUND THE HORN? CAN YOU? CAN YOU THOUGH? I'm a little sad to see it go. Maybe we can find a way to bring it back. MAYBE I'LL DO AN ALL STAR BREAK CHECK IN! Would y'all want to do that? We'll see.

Now, the rules are easy. We had topics for each Thursday in March here, follow along with me + Jessa, grab the button below, link up, and make new friends woooooo!
Kasey At The Bat
If you can't guess my favorite team, I don't think you've ever been here before. So I'll reintroduce myself. Hi! My name is Kasey + I am probably one of the biggest Braves fans you will ever meet. I will defend them to my last breath. You know, that kind of fan. I'm unapologetic about it. I will defend Tommy Hanson's pitching motion until I'm blue in the face. I will think "this is the year. 2015 is our year. We're going to win the Series this year" until we are mathematically eliminated. every year.

okay well maybe not this year. BUT ONLY BECAUSE if the Cubs don't win this year, Biff never makes his zillions, we don't get hover boards, + the Dolorean just doesn't quite get to 88 mph. (guys. I really just got quite nerdy for a minute. you're welcome.)
Anyways. I was born + raised a Braves fan. Don't worry. I have proof. Here I am as a toe-headed heathen at Atlanta Fulton County. From what I've been told, this is actually a picture of me at a World Series game. SO THERE.  Let's be real. You couldn't pull that outfit off like I am.
I've even been to see them in places that aren't Turner Field. ONE TIME I saw them at AT&T on Easter where they swept the Giants. Even if some Giants fans did corner me in the bathroom (that was super scary y'all. I thought I might be done for.
So there you have it! Braves fan till I die y'all. I will like you no matter who you root for though (well unless your a Nationals fan. Then we'll probably have some issues..........) So let's hear it for the boys! Who's your favorite team? Why? Also, barring the Cubbies beating the Fish + hover boards becoming a thing -- I predict the Braves winning in seven. (gotta keep it interesting.) Who do you think it's gonna be? I have a plan for a fun prize if someone actually correctly predicts the outcome.
