Hey What's Up Hello

Oh, hey there! I bet you weren't expecting to see me today... Since it's been a whopping six months since I've been a good blogger, I thought I should start again by introducing myself and giving a little spark notes version of what's been going on lately.

So, last we spoke, I'm sure I was talking about buying a house and surely about getting a puppy. That's really been the focus of my last few months. There are so many things I kind of knew about being a homeowner and so many other things I didn't realize would happen all at once after I moved in.
Let me tell you, I knew what I was getting into getting a puppy, but I didn't realize what I was getting into with a puppy and no roommate. I feel like Albus has to be able to do whatever I'm going to do or else I feel guilty. I will be the first to admit that I am a helicopter momma with him. (PS Albus has his own instagram, clearly necessary to not overwhelm my friends with only puppy pictures. I'm pretty sure he will be more popular than me) I mean, just look at that face!
So! I'm back. I'm back to my bullet journal and all of the instagram hashtags. (PS, Elle & I decided the reason we dig bullet journals so much is because it kind of reminds you of passing notes in high school...) I have built out a plan for January (whaaaaaaat) but let me know if there's anything you want to see here this year! I can't wait to get back into everything. How has everyone else been?? What have I missed?

Can of Corn: Memories

Can we just have a moment of silence for the Braves? Just, like, real quick..........

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!
  • Write about baseball using the theme (or not) on the dates provided (or thereabout) from March-October. Just make it baseball!
  • Use the button in your post somewhere (at the end or whatever) and link back to me + P.J.
  • Go to one of our blogs the day this comes up (or thereafter) and linkup! The linkup will be "live" for a week after the date.
  • Visit other blogs, read, comment, and make some new baseball pals!
  • Have a cold beer (because let's be real, anything I'm involved in involves a cold beer...)
Can of Corn 2016 - Dates
  • March 17: Your favorite baseballism (saying, quote, jargon etc.)
  • April 14: Best baseball memory

  • October 20: Favorite tradition/superstitions

Can of Corn Challenge

SO. Baseball memories. I have so so so many. You know, a lifetime of them duh. My all time favorite events working for teams were definitely anything firework related. I love fireworks guys. I could see a show every night of the week + still love them. I am just a giant 7 year-old. Even when I was in Cali + we had to pick up the pieces of the fireworks after the show, I loved every second of it.
ALSO two summers ago I got to see WEEZER which was pretty kickass. I'm excited for the lineup the Braves have this year too. Post game concerts are so fun because you get a whole ball game and then some! Plus. A free Weezer concert comeON. admit it, Buddy Holly is stuck in your head now...
Also also any and all post season games I've ever been to. Sometimes I get chills just thinking about them. I don't want to post any of those pictures though because it just bums me out man. The whole "worst start in Atlanta ever" is really harshing my vibe. SO cheer me up! Join us with your favorite baseball memories!!! I can't wait to read all of the stories!

Confessions of an [Almost] Twenty. Seven. Year. Old

GUYS. guys. guys. guys. My birthday is Friday. I am turning old. OLD I TELL YOU. I'm really not prepared. Not even a tiny bit. Ask Michelle as she had to talk me down from the why isn't my life together meltdown of the day yesterday. I'm sure I will have a couple more in the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

I spent most of my brainstorming time working on that picture, I'm pretty sure it's the cover of my first novel, what do you think? #likeawallflower #meetstheshopaholic #meetssomemegcabotbook #WHEREISMYHOGWARTSLETTER

I mentioned my not-a-grownup meltdown, so today I was thinking about the things that I feel like qualify me (aside from being that close to thirty. OH MY GOD I'M ONLY THREE YEARS AWAY FROM THIRTY. BRB.) They include: paying for my own Netflix subscription (even though I watch the same shows over and over), I have a 401k (I even know what a 401k is...), I reward myself for doing chores with wine. Yeah. That's about it. #thatsashortlist #weareallpretending #right? #whoisarealgrownupanyways
via
I'm just as happy going to the bar (provided it's not so slammed that you can't move.. and maybe there's food...) as I am sitting in the living room, drinking champagne, and having a Disney sing-a-long. Or watching a marathon on the History channel. Or reading. Probably reading let's be real. #OHORKARAOKE #yeahletsdokaraoke #ORTRIVIA #ORBOTH

I've been racking my brain for more confessions that are worthy of blogging about. I can't come up with them. Mostly all I can think about is going to sleep. It's 10:15 and I feel like we're up past my bed time. #grammastatus #nowimfreakingoutaboutbeingoldagain #sendhelp

Well. I'm doing my normal link up for a Wednesday! All the hashtags. ALL OF THEM. Do you have any old lady ridiculous panics? I've decided that everyone is just pretending to be a grownup, I'm just not that good at pretending yet....

Currently

Hey do you know what is great for the blogger writer's block? A "currently" post! So how about a look at life lately?

Listening : To ALL THE BEATLES SONGS also Drink You Away #cantstopwontstop #ALLofhisfriends #Irealizethisisnthashtaghumpday #butimgettingaheadstart
Reading: I just finished Drums of Autumn so I'm on to The Firey Cross next. I might finish the entire Outlander series this before the spring. Then I'm going to need more suggestions guys. I've been the biggest bookworm lately.

Planning: This Peru/Macchu Picchu trip. guys. it's going to happen. Right now I'm leaning towards the Contiki Inca Panorama but I haven't ruled out figuring it out on my own. Y'all think I can do that right? The travel bug is real y'all. So real.

Drinking: A giant bottle of wine I bought in preparation for the #Snowmageddon16 (we got 1/4" it was incredible -- it was enough snow to be pretty and it was all gone by like noon Saturday. insert praise emoji here.)

Dreaming: of the summer. I am so over "feels like 11" HOW DO YOU PEOPLE UP NORTH DO IT? Also I hate that it's dark when I get out of work, it's like, what does the sun even look like. Remember daylight? Yeah, me either.

Baking: GUYS I NEED SUPERBOWL FOODS. I'm having a Superbowl party. It's happening. I need food ideas because I gotsta be the hostess with the mostest obviously or no one would want to read subsequent blog posts about it. Any suggestions?

What's up with y'all? Have you read the Outlander series? What on earth will I read next?

Jolliest Bunch of Elves This Side of the Nuthouse

HOLY CANOLI. How did we get here? Wasn't it May like. yesterday? I was going on + on about it being my birthday month next month the other day? And then someone goes, "how old will you be this year?" I got halfway through 27 before I burst into tears. I'd be lying if I told you guys I thought I'd survive a day past 22. It's really a Christmas miracle every year.. and now for an airing of grievances!
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with LoloAlanna & Company

Saturday I made a "quick" target run that I immediately regretted. FIRST OF ALL it didn't occur to me that the target parking lot that is always a nightmare would be infinitely worse because Christmas. SECOND OF ALL it's very rare that I do anything productive on Saturdays, they're almost exclusively reserved for bottomless mimosas and football. So I get there, the pet store next door has puppies outside for adoption, and the entire population of Atlanta is in target ignoring the possibility that anyone could need to be there. Guys. I went to target for a toothbrush, shampoo + conditioner, antifreeze for my car, picture frames, and wine (because I always forget that particular target doesn't have booze) do you know what? I walked out with Star Wars jammies. THAT. WAS. IT. #ineedanadult #targetunsupervised #itwasawful #imighthavecried
source
I used vacation time for today + tomorrow to come work for my dad. You know, no rest for the broke bitches. The perk is that I can sit up here in the office in my jammies because no one is here, the downfall to that is that the UPS man just came into the office and I was in my jammies. He just kinda looked at me.. #sorrynotsorry #hotmessexpress #baileysinmycoffee
like ever.
okay so I use Waze to avoid traffic, it's not always the best honestly but it makes me feel like I'm being more efficient. BUT I JUST REALIZED YOU CAN PUT IT IN C-3PO's VOICE and it is the best. Whenever there's a hazard it says "we will surely be destroyed! this is madness!" makes me giggle EVERY. TIME. #kindlyturnleftmaster #wemustfindR2 #suchanerd

Speaking of Star Wars. I haven't seen it yet. I think this whole "no Star Wars spoilers on social media" is the most impressive thing I've seen in a while. Good job everyone. #nospoilers #yougoglencoco
move along

I swear I come up with things through the week that should be in this post then I spend so much time trying to find the right .gif I get distracted and totally forget what I was going to write. Next time I'm going to write them all out then find the perfect .gif. #problemsolving #buthegifsaremyfavoritepart #tiedwiththefakehashtags #imobnoxious
I'M H20 INTOLERANT
That's all I have for today! HAPPY FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US EVERYONE! What are your holiday plans? HAVE YOU SEEN STAR WARS YET? Am I unreasonably excited for that? I have a lot of questions.

I Have A Lot of Questions

But first, I have to say thanks for everyone's sweet words last week. Y'all are da best. NOW on to some confessions + some questions + HASHTAG HUMPDAY OBVIOUSLY. Let's do the damn thing!
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
So. I was watching HIMYM + when they end Barney + Robin's marriage it's because he doesn't have time to do his blog. FIRST OF ALL. what? I'll travel around + write blogs, I can handle it. SECOND OF ALL why didn't he just sell his inventions? He really did come up with some great stuff. #justsavedtheirmarriage #SERIOUSLY #stillnotoverit

I'm working to get back in the blogging swing of things + I am terrified to open bloglovin. I mean. It's been a long time. There are going to be a zillion unread posts. I am not prepared. #toomany #somuchtodo #needmorehours

HOW DOES THE ORDERING PIZZA FROM DOMINOS USING JUST A PIZZA EMOJI EVEN WORK. What kind of pizza? What credit card? Is it delivery or take out? Is it just one pizza? Are there sides? What about a coke? HOW #somanyquestions #nowIwantpizza #pizzaemoji

Great. Now I want pizza but instead I have to do the responsible adult thing and make dinner like a grown up. What's up with y'all? Have you done anything ridiculous lately? Did you use a pizza emoji to send pizza to my house?

Unconditional Love + The University of Georgia Football Program

So. I was sitting in the pouring rain, watching the University of Georgia football team do what they always seem to do in the big game -- break my heart. Every time. I was sitting there, watching the exodus, thinking all the mean time we could totally pull this out. I don't like to leave early. So I stayed, soaking wet, until the very last second. I sat there, and all I could think was I'm not even mad, I'm just disappointed. Then I thought, that's what my parents always said to me.
It was that moment that I realized I loved this damn football team unconditionally. Then I said that out loud and I felt absolutely ridiculous. Then slightly less ridiculous because you know what? It's important to know that kind of love is possible, even if it's for a big bunch of boys who can never get their act together on the big games -- that I can always be optimistic for the next week. There's always next year. There's always next week. There's always next time. There's always tomorrow.

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

If I didn't put that title in quotes, does someone think I'm trying to take credit for that statement? I'm not. I also didn't write Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. You know, in case you thought maybe I did that too. Anyways. Now that we've cleared all of that up, I have to say it,  I am lost. I realized it today at work when one of my supervisors asked me what my personal, not work, goals were. I realized I didn't have any. I hadn't had any since I started working. The girl who always has a plan didn't have one. I'm kind of freaking out.

I don't really talk about my anxiety anywhere. I've started talking about it more in my real life to people who I know are fellow anxious people because I know they won't think I'm trying to get attention. I'm scared to talk about my anxiety because I don't want people to think I just want attention. It's a real fear.

Two weeks ago I had a panic attack at work and I couldn't calm myself down. I've been having them since high school, that's the first one I really remember. I was in the hallway at school during a class change then all of a sudden I couldn't breathe. I didn't know what was happening or where I was or what to do. I didn't tell anyone about it for probably two more years. The one I had at work was worse than any I've ever had before. I had to have my aunt come pick me up from the office and take me home.

Then today I started panicking over "what are your personal goals for the rest of September + October?" Which leads me to believe I need to come up with a plan, get back to the basics of what drives me over the weekend. That, combined with the outstanding timing of Chelsea's post yesterday reminded me that this is it, we just get the one life. I am going to start spending it better. (plus that Ryan Adams 1989 came out. you need to listen to that too.) Any suggestions on my next step will be very welcome...

Hashtag Humpday September Is Here!

One day, I'm going to pop up + not start a post with hey, remember me? The girl who's kinda funny, makes a mean cocktail, and apparently pops up once a week now to tell you a ridiculous story? I swear. That day is NOT TODAY! Today is a day for ridiculous things that happen accompanied with ridiculous made up hashtags because I love to hashtag the Schmidt out of things!

Hello, my name is Kasey and I'm an instagram stalker. Some days, I'm all over the insta.  Other days I'm a space cadet + don't check it at all. Here's the thing. If I see your picture, I'm going to like it (hey, ItWorks! distributors, stop tricking me. I don't want to buy a wrap to make me skinnier. ) If you're interacting with me all the time + I realize I've been a space cadet, I'm going to go to your profile + make sure I catch up on my likes. I'm not sorry. We may not hang out all the time in real life, but I care about you + friends like each  other's instagram pictures. #sorrynotsorry #thatisaparagraph #HEARTSFORDAYS

I got these awesome earrings in my most recent RocksBox (ps, if you're not already signed up you can totes use my code "kathleenbff118" for a free first month!) that I want to keep forever. But I don't want to pay the $35 for because I'm irresponsible with earrings. but I've kept them for long enough to where technically I've spent $40. #BadAtMath #INEEDthem #thatsalotforearrings
it took me seven times to get this in the right place. #thatswhatshesaid
I've found that bottled wine makes me a more responsible person. You know, because you have to think about what pinterest project you're gonna attempt to make sure nothing goes to waste. #SOMANYCORKPROJECTS #icantotallycutglasswithfire #candleholders?

So, Saturday I took Little Bear up Kennesaw Mountain. I thought oh this is a great time to take my camera along! I HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS FINALE. I feel like it was lazy. Not the Cece thing, just the way they tried to tie everything together. I mean the Mona being A thing was a bigger build up. Like once they revealed her it ALL made sense + it was still shocking. I just felt like the timelines don't match up. #getittogethermarlene #PLL #lameReveAl

THE RULES ARE SUPER EASY:

  • write about baseball on the third Thursday of every month this season. if you're stumped, check out our prompts. if you're not stumped, we wanna read what you have too!
  • use the button! or just link back to me + Allison (WE CAN DO ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIAS TOO!)
  • link up!

  • 7th Inning Stretch Link Up
  • make new friends who like baseball!
  • have a cold beer.
okay, that last step is optional, but I mean, I'm gonna do it. SO. Here are our suggestions (I use 'our' lightly, they're 100% Allison's idea.. lalalalaaa)
  • April 16th : pick your pretend fantasy team!
    • Only pick players who are currently on a major league roster
    • Choose 8 players for your starting lineup, 5 starting pitchers, and 2-3 relievers??
    • I believe there should be a constitutional amendment against the Designated Hitter (name that movie for bonus points..) so just don't draft them. or lose points at a position. #sorryboutcha AL.
    • the rules are made up + the points don't matter
  • May 21st : favorite ballpark(s)? Why?
  • June 18th : All-Star picks and predictions
  • July 16th : best promotions and theme nights, or what promos/themes would you plan for your team?
  • August 20th : if I was commissioner...
  • September 17th : favorite baseball books + movies (I can't promise I'll like you more if you pick Casey at the Bat..... but I can't promise you I won't.....)
  • October 15th : recap your fantasy team, share favorite moments, season highlights, fun stories, update your World Series Predictions.

My Top Five Most Ridiculous Google Searches

Guys. Sometimes I say, out loud, "what was the world like before Google?" EVEN THOUGH I remember plenty of life before google. I remember the AOL CD-ROMs, I REMEMBER A WORLD BEFORE INTERNET. I don't know why I'm shouting that. It makes me feel old.

I digress. Today, as I was googling "what time is it in Arizona" for the fourth time of the day, I thought "I google the dumbest things. I bet people who read my blog would laugh at this. HEY NOW I HAVE SOMETHING TO BLOG ABOUT!" Since I've been pretty dry on the whole inspiration well because most things that happen to me lately aren't worth blogging about.

Here are my top five [most recent] most ridiculous Google searches -- full disclosure: I also say okay google.. out loud before I type them in. #imsocool

Okay google:
  1. What time is it in Arizona? (I struggle pretty hard with the fat that they don't do daylight savings time. I also struggle with which time is daylight savings. is it when we spring forward until we fall back? or when we fall back until we spring forward? BEN FRANKLIN YOU'RE THE WORST.)
  2. What comes after "Jamaica we have a bobsled team?" #sorrynotsorry that's stuck in your head now. I sing it about once a day. COOOOOOOL RUNNINGS
  3. What wine goes with xyz -- I have no good reason for this because I'm going to buy red anyways. "okay google, what wine goes with papa johns pizza?"
  4. Margaritas near me for obvious reasons.
  5. How do you spell restaruant? restaraunt?rest-au-ruant? seriously I will never learn. I swear.
Seriously though. I google some dumb things. I'm pretty sure I'm getting less intelligent... What do you google? I mean, after what happened to kasey at the bat?

I Was Born In The Wrong Decade.

I AM SO PUMPED ABOUT WRITE OR DIE TODAY + 7TH INNING STRETCH TOMORROW. hashtag allllll the linkups!

I have, for literally my entire life, felt like I didn't belong in this time period. I alternate between a few periods I would have liked to live. I go through phases as to which decade it should have been. The first time I read Gone With The Wind I was hooked on history. I wanted to live in the 1800's and wear giant hoop skirts and ride around in buggies and go to parties that included naps. This also launched my mild obsession with the overall US Historical Fiction genre. Don't get me started on the books. I could talk about books for ever.
source

THEN I SAW TITANIC. First of all. there was enough room for two people Rose. ENOUGH ROOM FOR TWO. Anyways. Then I wanted to live in that time, it seemed so glamorous. Even though Rose was being made to marry that awful man. Then, my obsession with Titanic led to the Roaring Twenties, which obviously led to Gatsby. I will be honest. I am still obsessed with Gatsby and I really don't see that being something I will ever grow out of... #alittlepartyneverkillednooobody #sorrynotsorry -- actually. now that I think about it, maybe I just wanted to be wooooed by Leo...
source
However, if you know me at all, you know those aren't the decades I truly belong in. Let's be for real. I belong in that 1960's, flowers in your hair, bare feet running through the fields, era. Long flowy skirts, mermaid hair, and lots of girl power before it was an affront to men. It was great because everything was groovy, man. (plus no one rolled their eyes at you for saying 'groovy, man')
grooooovy baby
So, that's that. I belong in the sixties. I don't think that surprises anyone, really. What decade do you belong in? Check out all of the fun places I'm linking up today! AND COME BACK TOMORROW FOR BASEBALL THINGS!!!!!

Bloom

Okay. I thought that I broke blogger for a solid 24 hours. That was pretty terrifying. I apparently didn't, but you have to let me know if tomorrow's post looks weird or comes out in all HTML or whatever. ANYWAYS. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack for Write or Die Wednesday!

Guys. I don't know if you have noticed or not, but I have a thing for flowers. I love them. I need fresh flowers in my house. All. The. Time. Did you know today's pollen count is 2,256? Yesterday, when I was driving to the gym, the air was yellow. There was so much pollen that THE AIR WAS TOO SATURATED WITH POLLEN TO BE CLEAR. It's okay. BECAUSE FLOWERS.

If you don't already accept the obsession, let's take a quick instagram check.

flowers in my hair? check.

I even have pens at my desk that are wrapped in florists tape with big fake flowers at the top. I might have a problem. But. But. But. They're just so pretty. I think they make the world so happy. What do you think?
Write or Die Wednesdays

The Mid-Twenties Funk.

I have a rather unpopular opinion, according to the things I see on the Internet (you can't put anything that's not true on the Internet.) I think that your mid-twenties are overrated. If one more person tells me that "this is the best time of your life! enjoy it!" I'll probably punch them in the face. (not really. I'll probably just roll my eyes at you. but in my imagination I'll be punching you in the face..) I think the mid-twenties funk is being swept under the rug and that's just not fair.

I work really hard to be authentic in this space. Which is actually quite difficult lately, because I'm in said mid-twenties funk. (also because today alone I have said "wiser" and "how do I itch it?" so I also apparently need an English language refresher course..) Who wants to read about that lost feeling? That "crap. I'm trapped in this dead end job but I don't know what I want to do with my life anymore. I accomplished my ten year plan in four years, so what now?"
Then, today, when I couldn't think of anything clever to write, I thought "oh, duh. I want to read about other people with the mid-twenties funk so I don't feel like a complete waste of space" because misery loves company or whatever. I'm not miserable. I'm not failing. I'm just not the happiest camper all the days. It's weird, that lost feeling. It's not like a fun lost in the woods that turns into an adventure or a wrong turn on a road trip that leads you to the coolest dive bar with killer outdoor seating.

I'm in a place where I need something to light that fire. I need a new challenge. A new puzzle to solve. Or to win the lottery. I think I could stand to win the lottery. Don't feed me some garbage about how money can't buy happiness (but how poor is a rich man who lives all alone?). Show me a twenty something with student loans + credit card bills who says they wouldn't be happier if they didn't have to pay those + I'll show you a liar liar pants on fire. It's not as cool as a mid-life crisis, because you're barely breaking even on those payments so you can't go buy a fancy sports car or something ridiculous to make you feel like a fun person again.

So hey. Guys. You're not alone in this mid-twenties funk. I don't know how we're going to kick it, but it's going to happen. We'll figure it out together. We can do this. If you ever need to talk about it, you can totally talk to me, because I'm right there with you.
