Can we just have a moment of silence for the Braves? Just, like, real quick..........

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!

  • Visit other blogs, read, comment, and make some new baseball pals!

Can of Corn Challenge

SO. Baseball memories. I have so so so many. You know, a lifetime of them duh. My all time favorite events working for teams were definitely anything firework related. I love fireworks guys. I could see a show every night of the week + still love them. I am just a giant 7 year-old. Even when I was in Cali + we had to pick up the pieces of the fireworks after the show, I loved every second of it.
ALSO two summers ago I got to see WEEZER which was pretty kickass. I'm excited for the lineup the Braves have this year too. Post game concerts are so fun because you get a whole ball game and then some! Plus. A free Weezer concert comeON. admit it, Buddy Holly is stuck in your head now...
Also also any and all post season games I've ever been to. Sometimes I get chills just thinking about them. I don't want to post any of those pictures though because it just bums me out man. The whole "worst start in Atlanta ever" is really harshing my vibe. SO cheer me up! Join us with your favorite baseball memories!!! I can't wait to read all of the stories!

Can of Corn: Baseballisms

I just watched Scandal so I have a really strong desire to start this off good morning lovers of liberty and I don't have a good reason for that. Anywhoodles. Today is the very first day of our Can of Corn Linkup + we are talking baseballisms. If you know anything about me, you know I'm a sucker for cheesy jokes, irony, and clever puns. BUT FIRST, some housekeeping.

Okie dokie! I'm just the co-host, P.J. is the brains behind the operation, so here are the rules guidelines for Can of Corn!

Can of Corn Challenge

OKAY now that that is out of the way let's do it to it. As I mentioned, I love a good cheesy joke, so naturally I love anything Yogi Berra said. Like "baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical" I'd have to say my favorite, at least at this exact moment in time, is Babe Ruth:

What is your favorite?

Thursty Thursday Tequila Things!

FIRST OF ALL. Let's talk about that alliteration. You're welcome. Anyways. I don't have anything super fancy to share in the way of new drink recipes. I've been doing a lot of Corona + liiiime (i will be your maaain squeeze..) because -- no dishes duh. ANYWAYS. The internet has been all about tequila lately (or maybe the internet is targeting me....) and I had to share some of the best stuff!

I was adding songs to my never ending country music playlist, I thought "oh, I should totally add all of the country songs about tequila!" because, you know, it's my brain doing the thinking. I discovered this Kenny Chesney jam + I have no idea how I haven't heard it before. One, I am pretty sure I bought all of his CDs in the early 00's, two, it's about tequila, and three, it's perfect.

THIS WATERMELON SHOT GLASS. It even suggests you fill it with tequila. stay tuned, I'm totally trying this ASAP.

You know how there are "suggested pins" on Pinterest now? Well mine are usually one of two things. Travel destinations or tequila drinks. I pin all sorts of other stuff, but Pinterest know's what's up man. Thanks to those pins, I've discovered this post about boozy popsicles. So we'll see how those compare to my deep fried tequila shots.
Okay, so who's ready for margaritas + queso now? Because I definitely am. Do you have any tequila recipes I need to try?!
Hopelessly Ever After

Kitchen Sink Sangria

Who has two thumbs + edited these photos but forgot to upload them in time for last Thursty Thursday? THIS GIRL! So. Let's talk sangria. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and that's what happened a couple weekends ago. I went to a wedding shower and some how came home with like pounds of fresh fruit. I wasn't going to be able to eat it all before it went bad, so obviously it meant it was sangria time, right?
kitchen sink sangria
So, I'm not too worried about the arsenic or whatever in two buck chuck. I'll gamble with it. So, I like I said, I came home with a bunch of fruit. I had some rum, grabbed two bottles of merlot from TJ's, and went to work. I checked pinterest + found all sorts of fancy recipes, but decided to go for it.
  • 2 Bottles of Red Wine
  • roughly a cup of rum....
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • splash of Grand Mariner
  • fresh fruits
I mixed all of this in that super cute [margariiita] pitcher, covered the pitcher with plastic wrap, and let it sit over night! You know, so the fruit gets good + boozy. It. Was. DELICIOUS. you know, if I do say so myself.... Also, please notice the mess I made trying to pour the wine in the pitcher. Why anyone thought it was reasonable to make countertops white is beyond me. What are you sippin' on this Thursty Thursday?

Hopelessly Ever After

2014 Favorites!

It's that time of year where everyone starts saying, "can you believe how fast this year went by?" time flies when you're having fun or something. Since Helene is doing the best songs of 2014 today, (also since her Worst Songs of 2014 was so on point) I had to play along! Since I can never follow any rules, I'm going to do my overall favorites this year. Not just songs!
The Best Songs Of 2014
books // I didn't do a lot of new reading this year, I embraced a #nonewbooks attitude, so I reread all the Harry Potter books, some more than once. I did really enjoy Where'd You Go Bernadette + Teatime for Firefly though!

movies // I really had to think about this to realize that I didn't see that many movies this year. I did love Mockingjay [part one obviously] and Divergent [that was this year, right? I tried to say Frozen, but I think I saw that last December. It all blends together....]

songs! // last, but certainly not least -- my favorite jams of this year!

back to the shack // HELLO WEEZER IS BACK. I think that alone was worth getting excited for. I really dig this one though back to the strat with the lightining strap

leave the night on // okay, so maybe Sam Hunt is from our neck of the woods too, but come on, "sky's dropping jupiter around us like some old Train." come. on.

be your last // oh I just discovered this one recently, but it has to make the list. it's too cute. I love her voice. also baby we're all just sinners trying to keep our hearts intact.

all through the night // remember when Grey's Anatomy only did songs that were covers of other songs? This one still makes me cry a little.

diamond rings + old barstools // because. Tim McGraw. Obviously. it ain't like watered down whiskey and coke, I guess some things just don't mix like you hope, like me + you

blank space // if that video didn't seal the deal, I don't know what will. Tay will never be a guilty pleasure for me [obviously we're on a nickname basis right?]

jealous // HELLO. I touched on this the week before last, but man am I a Nick Jonas fan. You have to watch the video, obviously.
I really thought I would have more to say here today when I started out! Apparently I wasn't too adventurous this year. I'll have to work on that for 2015! What were your favorites this year?

Thursday Things: My Favorite Songs This Week

HEY. I bet you thought I forgot to blog today! Busted. THEN, after I saw Santa, my dad + I were jamming in the car, so I figured I could totally show up for some jams today!
A photo posted by Kasey Decker (@kdsmoove) on
First of all, #TBT on Spotify is on point every week. I recommend subscribing. Just remember, they update it every week so if you really love a jam (like me with the 00's throwback) save it to your own playlist (then share it on your blog and pretend you're really that clever.. oh. wait..). This week, it's 80's jams. solid. we [my dad + I] just had a mini-office dance break to Karma Chameleon
Also. If you follow me on the twitter, then you're already aware, but I literally cannot get enough of the new Nick Jonas album. when did he grow up and become so handsome? am I allowed to think he's handsome? or is that weird because I'm old?

I discovered this next one because Steph shared it one day, then I tried to tell my friends about it and got a lot of Kasey, we've already heard that one, get up with the times. Hi. My name is Kasey and since I don't listen to the radio ever I never know there are new songs. So I'm always behind the times. #notahipster :/
OH MAN WHILE WE'RE DANCING. This one too. It's cute and lovely and it makes me happy. I love to dance.
Okay. Last of all. If you haven't seen the Hunger Games yet, I'd tell you to. I read the books, I was super interested to see how they broke the last one into two movies, it wasn't so much as a Harry Potter book, you know? Where you gotsta. ANYWAYS turns out J. Law has some pipes on her. This song is incredible. I'm obsessed.
Do you have any new jams for me since I'm so behind without the radio and all of my obsessive 1989 car jams? What do you think of these songs?

Oh, How Pinteresting...

Guys, I'm so excited, I'm being featured over at Rebekah's place today! How cool is that?! So I'm going to keep things today short + sweet, because go see me over there!! So I want to share my favorite things from Pinterest this week, obviously.  I have this habit of going to Pinterest when I have writer's block because I've pinned a million different blog post ideas. Then I go down the rabbit hole, because I obviously have no self control.

this mug that I want so bad I almost ordered it while making this collage, but $24 for a coffee mug is hard to commit to.. why does it have to be so much?! ||  I have to have this sequin top. but why is it $200? [more importantly. why was it ever $495? WHO PAYS THAT?] || these wine glasses that used to be on this etsy store + I'm sure could be reorderd..||  4 this love the wine you're with sign, obviously for the bar cart || 5 delicious ways to get your family toasted for thanksgiving ||

So sitting down to write this post taught me a few things, one there should be an option on pinterest to where I can just see my recent pins, like they're my dashboard or something. two, deciding to share my favorite pins made me really self conscious, what if they don't think that's funny? what if the way I did this is some kind of copyright violation? am I going to go to jail for sharing these like this?

What have you been pinning lately?

I'm Breaking ALL The Rules Today..

Okay. Well maybe not all of them. But most of them. I just spent 30 minutes ironing a sheet + chasing the natural light around my living room to get you guys the perfect pictures for this wine cork thing I'm making [ps it's gonna be great!] Then I remembered I forgot to schedule today's post, again. [guys, I don't have it together.] So, the sweetest little llama there ever was, Melissa, nominated me for another Liebster award. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to win more than once, Natalie also nominated me, so this would be my third [I have never felt more popular guys..] Anyways. I'm just going to use it as a prompt for today, which is probably not part of the rules. I nominate everyone who hasn't done it yet. I know that's cheating. Hashtag sorry not sorry.
this picture has nothing to do with anything.
I'm also skipping 11 random facts about myself, because you can find some here, here, here, and anywhere in this tag. geeze I talk about myself a lot. OKAY. On to the questions!

Do you like Christmas music? I love Christmas music. I've been known to listen to it in July. I love it almost as much as Laura

Do you like to cook? I do! I also like to make up recipes as I go, because I'm bad at following directions, apparently.
Do you watch Gilmore Girls? is the Pope Catholic? I'm really just Lorelai with a better relationship with her mother.

What is your favorite hobby? it appears to be finding the perfect gifs for my posts these days. I also love to take pictures, go to sporting games, play softball, and go on nature hikes!
What are three goals you have in the next 10 years?
  • travel: I'm going to Europe on NYE!!
  • pay off all my credit card debt: working for peanuts kinda racks up the credit card bills..
  • buy a jeep wrangler: after I pay off my debt. or if Jeep wants to give me one. OR if someone wants to trade my car for their wrangler, I'm thinking someone who just had kids, the Liberty is great for moms!
Do you watch reality T.V.? no, but my roommate does, so we have a lot on our DVR...
How do you feel about your current job?  I love my dad, I love being able to pay my bills, but it's not for me. I want to get back in sports, but I'm also considering going back to school and finding a different kind of nonprofit to work for..
What is your most embarrassing moment? I don't embarrass easily. I don't even know if I could pick one, I do a lot of dumb stuff..
Any hidden talents? THIS I have plenty. I'm a really fast pee-er. Super efficient at Facebook stalking, I can figure out the end of crime drama shows before the second commercial break, I am really good at that "what song is this, who sings it?" game, I know tons of useless things because I love trivia and crossword puzzles (I do them in pen + everything!)
How do you  feel about flying? I need at least one cocktail, it's a long story.
What did you want to be when you were little? A marine biologist who was also a professional softball player and President of the USA. I was super ambitious...

What made you start blogging? A lot of free time and a lot of people saying "why don't you start a blog? people would totally read it"
Do you have any nicknames? Kasey is actually a nickname! also Deuce, KD Smoove, KK, and I'll answer to "HEY YOU!" oh also, mouth of the south, due to my lack of volume control...
What's one thing you'd have to have with you if you were deserted on an island? I don't know if I can pick one. I'm going to cheat, books, sunscreen, tequila. Then I'd be set.
What is your guilty pleasure? The SyFy channel... also I really used to like the Disney channel, the newer stuff kinda sucks though.
What is your favorite movie quote? "good luck exploring the infinite abyss"

What is your go-to accessory staple? I always have at least two ponytail holders on my arm? Also, my cowboy boots. OH OR my love beads.
What is the best thing you've ever cooked? my favorite dish is my kickin' buffalo chicken dip
If you were one of the four seasons- which would you be and why? SUMMER. I don't like pants, I like the sun to stay up late, and I am like a furnace.
Where you born in the state (or country) you're currently living in? If not - what brought you there? I sure was!
What do you do for a living? right now, I manage my dad's office. He trusts me with all kinds of numbers. silly silly.
What do you think MSDS stands for? miscellaneous spontaneous dance situations. obviously.

I'm back to using the hot glue gun! Who else wants to answer these questions? I can make up some more if you want :)

Thursday Things :: A Photo Dump

I know I've been promising it for a minute, so here it is! Some of my adventures in DSLR "learn as you go" education! Tell me what y'all think!! Obviously, this post is super picture heavy, so it won't hurt my feelings if you need to skip on to the next one in your blogroll!
chipper jones
special thanks to the guys sitting in front of me at this game who had no idea I was taking their pictures.. I definitely took a bunch of pictures of their hats + jerseys too..
sunset
when I took this picture [from my apartment complex parking lot]  a boy walked up to me + goes "oh  that's a really cool camera, are you a photographer?" + I go "no, I'm a blogger!" and he looked at me like I had three heads...
oakland cemetery atlanta
Does this one look familiar? I took from the rooftop patio at 6 Feet Under, one of the days I insisted on toting my camera around for everything..
I'm not even a little sorry for two of almost the same picture. Can we talk about just how pretty Oakland Cemetery is? I wanted to sneak out + take pictures in there but we had other activities planned..
This didn't turn out like I wanted it to, but it's still pretty cool. We went to this terrifying dive bar [outstanding life choice to take my $600 camera TO A BAR] where the people were so mean + judgy because we weren't there usual patrons, so I was sitting watching the band + looked out the door, I couldn't get over the view of the Atlanta skyline from there..

A photo dump wouldn't be complete without the furry roommate... does anyone have any tips for getting rid of her green eyes [because it's not red eye, she doesn't look like a demon..] So, what do you think?! Anyone want me to take their picture? I am in love with this camera. Best investment I've made in my 25 short years here on this planet.

Photo Apps I Couldn't Live Without

Okay well that's a rather dramatic title. But let's be for real, no one actually posts "no filter" photos anymore. I know the sunset looked like that to you, but your phone didn't capture it. Oh, you didn't use a filter, you just bumped up the vibrance + saturation? Either way, I never take a picture with the Instagram app, I always use at least one if not all of these before posting to Instagram.

afterlite // this is my absolute favorite. You can edit every aspect of the photo + I'm really a sucker for those frames. makes the whole picture fit in the square Instagram mold..

a beautiful mess // I love love this app because it lets me doodle on pictures, add funny shapes + also automatically makes them fit the Instagram size! [it's ABM in the App store... also their Party Party app is too fun...]
ABM

VSCO cam // can I even claim to be a blogger or amateur photographer if I don't use VSCO? I do love that it lets me work my phone camera like the manual settings on my DSLR though. It's pretty groovy.
VSCO Cam
PS express // dude. this is the best for when you take those low light pictures, because how bad is the iPhone at low light pictures? that's mostly what I use this for, fixing the lighting. it also works great when you want to add saturation to the picture but not turn everyone orange.
PS Express
I figured the best way to demonstrate these would be to use the most flattering picture of myself I could find. So obviously I picked this one.. What apps do you rely on for Instagram

Thursday Things : Currently

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I had a burst of productivity on Sunday + scheduled a bunch of posts. Which is why me being late to the party + not having anything planned for today is such a surprise, turns out the Thursday post I wrote + scheduled for #Blogtober14 is actually for next Thursday. Oops. So, since I'm at a loss for today, I figured I'd hop on the "currently" train.

reading // The Happiness of Pursuit and HP: Goblet of Fire. Blogging for Books sent me The Happiness of Pursuit and I'm being a terrible book review person because I still haven't finished it. I started it and read half the book in one sitting, and I just haven't made time to finish it. I either read twenty books a week or none..

drinking // tequila! just kidding, it's only 11 am. Water. always with the water, you know because I read on the internet that if you drink a gallon, your hair looks prettier. Now that I've been drinking a gallon a day, if I don't drink water I feel all needy and dehydrated.

listening // my improvement on Spotify's '00s playlist. At this exact moment? What A Girl Wants. yeah c'mon. Check it out here:
watching // I'm so behind on all my fall TV because Gilmore Girls is on Netflix. It's really all I've been watching lately. Oops.

wishing // that I could find my other boot. I seem to have lost one of my super cute boots. It's somewhere but you know, if I would clean my closet out like I keep saying I'm going to, I would know where it was. Maybe I'll get on that today. Maybe I'll find someone who will do it for me in return for a mean margarita?

planning // I have decided that for my 26th birthday [ugh gross.] I want to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Isn't that what normal people do for their 26th birthday? I've also gotten my little brother hooked on HP, so I figure if I take him too, it's even more legit, right?

craving // pizza. Send pizza please. I'll love you forever -- I swear. extra cheese oh and ranch dressing. oh my goodness..

You know how if you say a word too many times, it seems to lose it's meaning? I tried so many different fonts for that picture up there that I'm pretty convinced that I spelled "currently" wrong. It's a really weird word... So what's going on in your world? Tell me about your day!

Prost Y'all! Oktoberfest in Helen, GA

Oktoberfest is a sixteen day festival in Munich, Alex at Speaking Denglish has everything you need to know before you go, reading it will give you major wanderlust. I have the real Oktoberfest on my travel bucket list, I'm thinking of even adding it to my 101 before 1001 [that list is really hard to make...] That's a little bit more of a trip than I could swing on a weekend, so instead I knocked it off of my fall bucket list and we hopped on the Atlanta Bar Tours Oktoberfest Bus Trip!
oktoberfest helen ga
I'm new to the whole party bus trip, aside from the date night busses we took in college. Those weren't really party busses, since you couldn't take any booze on those busses. The first announcement on this bus was "there are four coolers of beer and wine on the bus, water and soda goes under the bus, so if you want water you might be on the wrong trip!" Easily the best thing to hear at 9:45 am.
oktoberfest helen georgia
Helen is the most adorable little town, known for their main street modeled after small Bavarian towns. If you haven't been to Helen, and you're anywhere close, you're definitely missing out. Even when it's not Oktoberfest, there are oodles of fun things to do. You can even shoot the Hooch up there! [no, the City of Helen didn't ask me to write this, I've just been going up there since I was a little girl..
oktoberfest helen georgia

Our first stop included a surprise marriage proposal, gigantic plastic beer steins [obviously, I lost mine at some point in the day], and the most delicious soft pretzel I have ever had in my entire life. There was live music and German treats at every stop. We made the rounds to all of the local spots and even convinced a bouncer that we would pay the cover on the way out. Then we hopped back on the bus and headed back home. That's a big selling point for me, sleeping in my own bed at the end of the night.

I absolutely recommend Helen's Oktoberfest, if you want to go this year, you still can! The 44th Annual Oktoberfest in Helen Georgia runs through the first weekend in November this year. They do it every year, and Atlanta Bar Tours puts together the bus tour, but I recommend buying your tickets early, since the trip sells out every year!

September :: Through The Lens

One of my September goals was to take more pictures so that this post would have pictures from more than one weekend! I think I kicked that goal in the hiney, let's talk September through the lens!

row o n e // more Georgia games, there's never enough | sweetwater reunions | roommate surprises

row t w o // family Braves time | all of the dog pictures! |  if I bought my fancy camera, so I had to take a picture of it right?

row t h r e e // just the most delicious jalepeno poppers | margs on the rooftop | HOLDING THE BLOG BATON!

Speaking of Instagram, you should definitely follow along so that you don't miss the fun shots, like this gem:

I'm kinda good at #tbt, if I may be so bold. May the force be with you! What kind of pictures did you take last month?
All That's Glittered

Thursday Things -- A Reintroduction

So I'm on the verge of 100 followers on bloglovin' which is probably enough to give me a heart attack, but it means there are lots of new people here! I've seen a lot of "reintroduction" posts lately, so I figured now's as good a time as any! Also, today you can catch me on the Blog Baton -- which if you're not already following, you really should be. So, here we go!
name : actually, it's Kathleen if I'm in trouble or the waiter is reading my credit card. I go by Kasey, my parents gave me that nickname when I was born because they didn't want me to be called Katie. fun fact:  my dad had a stalker named Katie, so that's where Kasey comes from. My mom has also told me she wanted to name me Zoe. So there's that.

age : okay, I'm 25. I don't want to talk about it. I wanted to stay 22 forever. 22 was a good year.

why did I start blogging : I think I originally set "Kasey at the Bat" up when I was moving to California for work, but I really started blogging after I built a couple of social media programs and also I was told I really should after my blogs about winter meetings. [ps, it's super weird to be able to go to someone else's blog + see your name as a category..]

where am I : Atlanta, currently. I am always disappointed when the flight attendants only say "Welcome to Atlanta." If I ever got into working for an airline, I would always close with "welcome to Atlanta where the playas play" because. you have to.

what do I blog about : okay, so it's a lot of sports stuff, working in sports, lists about really anything, and I link up confessions every Wednesday, because I think my life is pretty hilarious...

it's happy hour, I'm drinking a : tequila sunrise. yum.

most recent netflix binges : Scandal, Warehouse 13, HIMYM, AND ON OCTOBER FIRST, GILMORE GIRLS.

favorite teams : Braves, UGA, Falcons, Blackhawks (okay, so I'm a little bit of a bandwagon fan, they keep taking my hockey teams away..) I love a good MiLB game, no matter who the team is..

guilty pleasures : disney channel original tv shows, really any kind of animated movie, the SyFy channel, Reece's in the freezer, rereading Harry Potter books, 90's pop music...

So, that's a lot you probably didn't want to know just learned, tell me about you! Guilty pleasures, favorite cocktails, netflix binges, I wanna know it all!

Thursday Things :: Braves vs. Nationals

Since I talked myself into buying my fancy camera, I have carried it everywhere. Grocery store, pizza place, you name it, I want to bring my camera along. Obviously I'm going to get my money's worth out of it. Anyways, Tuesday I went with a big bunch of my family to catch the Braves + the Nats. Sadly it had to be the game where the Nats clinched the East, so I don't want to talk about it. Instead, here are some pictures I took!
freddie freeman braves atlanta

No, I don't want to talk about the Nationals winning anything [I hope they don't score a single post season run. not even one.] or the current state of the Braves, or any of my sports teams for that matter. I just want to share pretty pictures. What do y'all think?

Thursday Things -- My First DSLR Pictures

So in like, three years, when I'm substantially better at using my fancy new camera because of all of the tutorials I have pinned and just experience, I'll be able to come back to this post and laugh at how I thought I was doing pretty okay. Without further ado, here are my favorites from my first full day playing with my new toy!

It seems that my dogs were the most willing subjects for me to take pictures of. So, there's that! My current motto is fake it 'till you make it. Do you have any tips/tricks/suggestions for me?
