Fri-YAY

Guys. Today is a great day. It's supposed to be 85 degrees, I'm wearing a shirt that says "mermaids have more fun" + my horrorscope today says:

Pinterest Fail :: Wine Cork Monogram

GUYS. I worked so hard on this stupid pinterest project + I cannot make it work. So I'm going to show you a bunch of really pretty pictures of the progress, then a picture of how it fell apart. Get ready.

Oh, it's so simple the blogs on Pinterest said, just hot glue the corks together! you can use a wooden letter as a stencil, but they'll all stay together! So, coffee + hot glue gun in hand, the first thing I do is line my corks up on the letter "P" I picked up from Michael's.. then I took an artsy picture, obviously. PS. can you tell I grabbed a white, wrinkled sheet from the linen closet as my backdrop? I promise I did all of my actual work on some newspapers, not on the fancy sheet at my parents' house...

After I've lined them all up, I start gluing them together. I start at the bottom, you know, because that seems the best place to start. This gives me a false hope.

I even painted my nails for this project in case my hands got in a picture. #prepared

so we keep on gluing. The wheels in my head are turning "man, people on Pinterest love wine cork projects. I bet this will make a kickass blog post. It's going to get shared everywhere. I'm going to be Pinterest famous + then maybe people will give me free wine! I should take some cool pictures to prove that I'm a legit blogger + you should give me free wine for more cork projects" -- my actual thought process that led to a bunch of pictures like this:

Oh look! I'm done! All glued together! An entire letter P! Hey, we drink a lot of red wine..

Oh, this was so simple! Thanks Pinterest, now it'll just stand up all on it's own! THAT. IS. A. LIE. Maybe if you're making a letter L or I or something that doesn't have any kind of shape to it. Those are actually the only two I can think of. Anyways. It's not a good plan for a fun curvy letter like P. THAT. IS. A. LIE. It's not a good plan for a fun curvy letter like P. The SECOND I picked that up, it fell apart in these places (before you ask, yes. I let the glue dry. I'm not new here.)

It has actually fallen apart so much now to where you can't even tell it was a "P" -- so whatever these other chicks are doing -- it's not just casually using hot glue. I have burnt fingers AND NOTHING BUT THIS BLOG POST TO SHOW FOR IT. What do you think? Do you have any pinterest disaster stories?

My Completely Reasonable Birthday List

So, today my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday, because I'm turning old on Thursday. So I figured in honor of my birthday week I'd like to share my completely reasonable birthday wish list. I hope you're ready!

Oh, How Pinteresting...

Guys, I'm so excited, I'm being featured over at Rebekah's place today! How cool is that?! So I'm going to keep things today short + sweet, because go see me over there!! So I want to share my favorite things from Pinterest this week, obviously. I have this habit of going to Pinterest when I have writer's block because I've pinned a million different blog post ideas. Then I go down the rabbit hole, because I obviously have no self control.

1 this mug that I want so bad I almost ordered it while making this collage, but $24 for a coffee mug is hard to commit to.. why does it have to be so much?! || 2 I have to have this sequin top. but why is it $200? [more importantly. why was it ever $495? WHO PAYS THAT?] || 3 these wine glasses that used to be on this etsy store + I'm sure could be reorderd..|| 4 this love the wine you're with sign, obviously for the bar cart || 5 delicious ways to get your family toasted for thanksgiving ||

So sitting down to write this post taught me a few things, one there should be an option on pinterest to where I can just see my recent pins, like they're my dashboard or something. two, deciding to share my favorite pins made me really self conscious, what if they don't think that's funny? what if the way I did this is some kind of copyright violation? am I going to go to jail for sharing these like this?

W is for Writer's Block

Guys. I think my ponytail is on too tight today and that's the reason I have such writer's block. I mean honestly, I can't even come up with any good tweets, and we all know I have an opinion on everything. So, instead of me coming here and writing a few crappy paragraphs, I figured I'd let some other folks speak for me. did I really just say "folks"?

Monday Motivations

I just did some Facebook stalking for the group of people I'll be going to Amsterdam/London/Paris with over NYE and realized I'm going to be the trip grandma. I'm hoping they call me "Cool Aunt Kasey" before "Grammy K" but I'm having a super hard time dealing with it.

I saw this on Pinterest the other day and had one of those "THIS!" moments. I feel like I'm constantly giving the advice of "if they gossip to you, they gossip about you." I'm so thankful that I have so many positive and encouraging friends in my life.

Also, I found this article, 8 Lessons I Want to Teach My Daughter. I think it could be called 8 Lessons We Should All Try to Remember. I love it. "In every tough situation, try kindness first" "don't complain unless you can offer a solution" "be present" I think these are all excellent lessons we should all live by.
