The World Needs More Wine Hashtags

FIRST THING IS FIRST. I hit 1,000 followers on the gram so Elle Talk + I are celebrating with a giveaway on said gram. Then we got to talking about how there isn't a list of boozy hashtags. Now, two of my favorite parts about hashtags are that they help you group your pictures together and they bring people of like activities together. SO here I am, with some of my favorite boozy hashtags.

I just discovered this one yesterday -- #yeswayrose HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THAT? (side note, I have that thought a lot. beer koozies, insulated stemless wine glasses with lids, the likes..)

I honestly started this as a post for boozy hashtags, but I've decided to focus on wine this time. Halfway through... Because you know what that's how blogging works. I've decided that there should be more than one so we can focus on the best kinds of booze and you guys can help me find more! Since we're focused on wine, I also love #winenot

Last but certainly not least, #lemmewineaboutit -- I'm not sure I want to share, because it's currently exclusively my wine photos. I guess y'all could all join in.

Also, I really wanted to embed the hashtag feeds, why isn't that a thing Instagram? I mean, not that my wine gifs aren't fun, but come on man. ANYWAYS. don't forget to head over to the gram + help me celebrate 1K! Do you have any boozy hashtags I should be using? I was a little disappointed to find there aren't that many yet, maybe we're just in time to start our own! Are you going to join me with #lemmewineaboutit ??

Kasey at the Bar: Breaking News!

Today (as I'm so very responsibly writing this Wednesday night in advance) Wednesday, the 20th of January 2016, I have finally met a wine I don't like. Now, don't get me wrong. It's not bad per se. I just, don't fancy it...

So first, for the quick rundown
  • Who makes it? CA Winecraft?
  • Where did I find it? Murder Kroger! (I'm a grocery shopping creature of habit..)
  • What did I pay for it? $3.99 (I realized later that's because it was best by January of 2016. I've never seen wine with expiration dates..)
  • What type of wine? "red slightly sparkling"
Okay. So here's what I think: I bought this because I see it every time I walk down the wine aisle at Kroger. Monday, I went to Kroger on my way home for two things and somehow lost focus like I was in Target... So I saw this was on sale, so my normal thought process of well, it's only $4 so what's the worst that can happen?

Don't ask me why I thought wine in a can would be just wine in a can. I was lured by the cartoon boxing man with the mustache. Plus what a clever name! Guys. It's a wine cooler. That was my mistake, here I was thinking "look it's with all the individual glasses of wine, it must be wine!" since the wine coolers are always in the cold section.

So the moral of this story is that I'm not a high schooler trying to sneak a Mike's Hard Lemonade so I'm probably not the correct demographic for a wine cooler. You might like it though, it's somewhere between those "limearitas" and a 4 Loko (guys. remember 4Loko?) Have you tried the Mataro's Punch? I hope I didn't upset anyone who loves wine coolers -- it's just not my style.

Kasey at the Bar: Apothic Red

I don't know why it took me so long to decide to do this, but let's be honest. It's about damn time. Welcome to the very first ever Kasey at to the Bar post! Today we're killing two birds with one stone, both the first Kasey at the Bar post + my very first cheap wine review. It's worth noting, no one paid me to buy this wine or gave it to me fo'free or anything. I bought it all on my own thankYOU.

So, what we're going to try, this time at least, is a bulleted points on the deets of the wine (who makes it, where I found it, what I paid for it, type?) so here we go!
  • Who makes it? Apothic
  • Where did I find it? Murder Kroger!
  • What did I pay for it? $3.99 with my Kroger Plus Card! haha
  • What type of wine? It's a red blend, I think....
So this wine, according to this new app facebook targeted an ad to me for, Vivino, is best paired with: beef, lamb, spicy food, game, mature + hard cheese, + goat cheese. In case you were wondering, I've paired it with Kraft Mac + Cheese, Papa John's cheesey bread, ham and cheese croissants, and shrimp + fettuccine alfredo...

I like this wine because it's dry, but not like WOAH dry. There's a little bit of a spice to it too, but based on what I've read about blends (and figured out trial and error) since there are a handful of different grapes it's a muted spice. If that makes sense. This is a wine I would definitey buy again for the $3.99, and would consider buying it for the average price of $10.98 that Vivino is telling me it usually goes for.

Have you tried the Apothic Red? What are your thoughts? Also, what are your thoughts on the very first ever wine review here? Would you like to see something else? Is there anything that I covered that seems unnecessary?

The One About Bad Grapes

Okay. So, it's no secret that I like wine (can we pause for a moment + deal with the fact that up to Wednesday night, October 21st 2015, I have instagrammed THIRTY FIVE PICTURES OF WINE?) So I wanted to share about my favorite kind of wine because every time I drink it at a "fancy" place someone feels the need to tell me "did you know that means 'bad grape' in French" (it doesn't actually.)

A photo posted by Kasey Decker (@kdsmoove) on

I love that it makes me sound fancy, oh, I'll have the malbec please! It's a red wine that is super yummy + full bodied + you really need to try it. Here's the lowdown on Malbec from someone who is a certified wine geek (where do I go to become a certified wine geek?) That has lots of big words + things I don't understand like "tannins" + some French stuff.
ALL THE WINE
Here's what I know: it's tasty, it's kind of spicy, the bartender thinks you're dumb if you ask "does it only come from Argentina like you can't call it champagne unless it's from that part of France or you can't make tequila outside of Mexico?" it's better if you have cheese to go with it, and it's best a little chilled. Moral of the story? Try a glass  (or bottle) today + then send me one + also if you would like to sponsor me to become a certified wine geek or to go to Argentina + learn more? Serious question: how can I get paid to blog about wine?

Hashtag Winesday

GUYS. It's a short week + it's be a hell of a short week. By that, I mean Tuesday was like all the bad Monday things slammed in to a day that should have been not so bad. (although if you ask Jen, Tuesday is bluesday...) ON THE PLUS SIDE. I get to #HashtagHumpday confess with the best of the best today! PLUS gifs always make the day better. SO. Join me + Laura + Lauren + let's hashtag this Schmidt!

Hashtag Humpday

IF you don't follow me on the twitter (which, why not? I'm hilarious.) or snapchat (it's kdsmoove there too, but I don't get snapchat really. I try, but I haven't figured it out yet.) then you might not know about the adventure my Tuesday was. First, I was super excited that it was thunderstorming -- because I love the rain. #raindance #puddlejumping #songsaboutrain
source
My workday resembled the day after you take some vacation time (seriously, does anyone ever come back from taking a day off + have  like, three seconds to deal with anything?) but that wasn't a surprise. I was heading to the new apartment to do some more unpacking, but rain + Atlanta drivers is never good. Forget that it rains ALL. THE. TIME. So, fifteen minutes into my drive, my car overheats. OBVIOUSLY nowhere close to anything. I pull over in the parking lot of a place that makes rocking chairs + headstones (logical combination) hoping the engine will cool off enough to where I can get home. #nosuccess #saddayforJude
source
So, first I try to fix it. Guys. It was adorable. Here I am, dressed all cute, trying to hold an umbrella and my hood open (because obviously the hydraulics in the hood are broken too.) in the pouring. rain. A few nice people at the gas station try to help, I read the manual, follow the instructions, and probably hurt my car a little more. (I'm really sorry Jude, I do love you.) I finally accept defeat (after the car does all of the things in the "CAUTION: if this happens, call for service" warning.) + use my AAA membership. Then I sit in my car + read a book until the nice tow truck men arrive. #booksfordays #alwaysprepared #likeaboyscout #butmoreadorable
really I'm just Rory
Then, I realize I'm not in a Criminal Minds episode, the tow truck men didn't murder me (aren't you relieved?!) But one of the sweet tow truck men did talk. the. entire. way. we're talking, twenty solid minutes. I was a little worried, he didn't take time to breathe. #slowdownkiller
source
So. The nice men drop me off at the car place, which is obviously closed, it's still raining, and I get out of the tow truck in my soaking wet skirt, top covered in engine grease, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why my shoe is dragging. OF COURSE I have broken my favorite flat sandals. OF COURSE. so here I am. hobbling around the car repair lot, and honestly I can't help but laugh. #itsnotevenmonday #itswinetime #youcantmakethisup
what shoes?!
So, my dad picks me up with wine, because tequila does't travel as well. Plus, supposedly you shouldn't drink tequila on a Tuesday. #ibegtodiffer HOWEVER poor little Jude (we've talked about my Beatles obsession, don't act surprised that all my cars have been named after Beatles songs.) is hanging out all byyyyy himself at the car fixing place. #heyjudeheyjudeHEYJUDEAYJUDEHEYJUDEHEY (oh what, like you don't sing to your car?)
naaaa na na nananana naaaaaaa hey jude
So. Now I really want to go watch Across the Universe. But, you know, I can't because all of my favorite movies have been moved into my new apartment. I know this because I unpacked that box. Sounds about right. HOW is your short week going? Woaaaaaaah we're halfway there! #winesday #humpDAY Are you linking up your confessions or WHAT dude?

Pinterest Fail :: Wine Cork Monogram

GUYS. I worked so hard on this stupid pinterest project + I cannot make it work. So I'm going to show you a bunch of really pretty pictures of the progress, then a picture of how it fell apart. Get ready.
Oh, it's so simple the blogs on Pinterest said, just hot glue the corks together! you can use a wooden letter as a stencil, but they'll all stay together! So, coffee + hot glue gun in hand, the first thing I do is line my corks up on the letter "P" I picked up from Michael's.. then I took an artsy picture, obviously. PS. can you tell I grabbed a white, wrinkled sheet from the linen closet as my backdrop? I promise I did all of my actual work on some newspapers, not on the fancy sheet at my parents' house...
After I've lined them all up, I start gluing them together. I start at the bottom, you know, because that seems the best place to start. This gives me a false hope.

I even painted my nails for this project in case my hands got in a picture. #prepared
so we keep on gluing. The wheels in my head are turning "man, people on Pinterest love wine cork projects. I bet this will make a kickass blog post. It's going to get shared everywhere. I'm going to be Pinterest famous + then maybe people will give me free wine! I should take some cool pictures to prove that I'm a legit blogger + you should give me free wine for more cork projects" -- my actual thought process that led to a bunch of pictures like this:
so artsy, so many potential pins.
Oh look! I'm done! All glued together! An entire letter P! Hey, we drink a lot of red wine..
Oh, this was so simple! Thanks Pinterest, now it'll just stand up all on it's own! THAT. IS. A. LIE. Maybe if you're making a letter L or I or something that doesn't have any kind of shape to it. Those are actually the only two I can think of. Anyways. It's not a good plan for a fun curvy letter like P. THAT. IS. A. LIE. Maybe if you're making a letter L or I or something that doesn't have any kind of shape to it. Those are actually the only two I can think of. Anyways. It's not a good plan for a fun curvy letter like P. The SECOND I picked that up, it fell apart in these places (before you ask, yes. I let the glue dry. I'm not new here.)

It has actually fallen apart so much now to where you can't even tell it was a "P" -- so whatever these other chicks are doing -- it's not just casually using hot glue. I have burnt fingers AND NOTHING BUT THIS BLOG POST TO SHOW FOR IT. What do you think? Do you have any pinterest disaster stories?

A Weekend of Christmas Sweaters!

Good Monday morning! Or afternoon. Let's be honest, I probably won't get my act together until after lunch today anyways. I always try to take the whole "Monday is a clean slate" attitude, but it apparently takes me at least two cups of coffee and half a day to get my chalk together. did I just take that metaphor too far? It is a metaphor right? Similes use the word "like" right? Wow. Okay, so my attention span is on point today. Since I can't keep it together + completely failed at last week's wishes, I'm going to be obnoxious + share this past weekend as it looked through my Instagram feed/camera roll. Ready, GO!
top row :: I asked my mom if we had any pictures of me completely terrified of Santa, turns out,  we've been pals since day 1! | the picture that would be my Christmas card if I had acted fast enough to send them out, on National Ugly Sweater Day! even though all of my sweaters are adorable. | only the prettiest new lens for Ringo the Rebel..

bottom row :: FINALLY a wine glass my size! also the only picture of how fantastic I looked for the fancy party Saturday night. Somehow I didn't take any other pictures there or at the tacky sweater party that followed. hashtag blogger fail. | coffee + pre-5k breakfast at Cafe Intermezzo full of people watching Saturday morning. (rethinking the way I organized these pictures, because they're in the wrong order for Saturday.) | Mom + I enjoying the beer we "ran" for in the Ugly Sweater 5k! (ps, I 100% recommend that one. hardly anyone actually runs, everyone is just having fun!

What did everyone else get into this weekend? CAN YOU BELIEVE CHRISTMAS IS NEXT WEEK? TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY AT THIS VERY MOMENT I WILL ON MY WAY TO HARTSFIELD JACKSON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WAITING TO BOARD MY FLIGHT TO AMSTERDAM. holy moly. sorry for yelling..
