Very Superstitious

"I'm not superstitious, just a little stitious..." That's really not a good way to describe me, but it's so fun to say! Anyways, let's find out just what I'm superstitious about!
Helene in Between Blogtober

watching or not watching a game on TV // so this goes season to season, this year, for example, I couldn't watch the Braves on TV. I swear they lost every game where I watched them on TV. I don't want that responsibility on my shoulders!

lucky dress // good thing it's a cute one. I didn't wear it once and the team lost, so obviously I have to keep wearing it until it doesn't work. Also, not sorry for posting this collage again...
yellow lights // I do that whole kiss the roof of the car thing, every time I go under a yellow light. I couldn't even tell you why, I'm just really sure that if I don't I will die. Obviously.

train tracks // under the same premise, when I go over train tracks I lift my feet up + put a finger on a screw. It's getting progressively harder as cars get fancier + don't have exposed screws anymore. I couldn't even tell you where I picked this one up at though.

don't talk about it // I will absolutely not talk about a no hitter, if my team is winning the game, if my kicker is on a streak, etc. I don't want to be the jinx. AFTER it's over, I'm totally gonna talk about it. But I will absolutely not say anything until it's over. I also don't believe my team will win until there are zero seconds left on the clock.

being picked to win certain games // it's rarely a good sign when we're favored over USC or Florida. Some years it's legit, but I feel like in the SEC it's any given Saturday.

my cocktail of choice // if I'm drinking something different than my normal tequila sunrise or mimosas, we don't seem to win. it seems like the key is orange juice. I don't wanna chance it though, so I'll just have a lot of vitamin C in my system...

where I sit // I have spots in the house I have to watch the game. Usually it's not even sitting, more standing + possibly pacing. It's really cute, you should really be watching sporting events with me.

things I'm not superstitious about, but most people are//
friday the 13th // for some reason it's actually a good day for me usually...
black cats/ladders/broken mirrors// I'm sure I'm jinxing myself about these things, but I haven't had that much of an experience with them one way or the other! I'm not much of a cat person though...

Obviously, this list changes regularly, usually getting longer rather than shorter.... How about you, what are you a little stitious about? Also, got this jam for y'all..

"The World Was Hers For The Reading"

Here we are again, with Helene + Taylor motivating me to even post on a Saturday. Today's prompt is favorite book. I couldn't pick one favorite book if you paid me all the dollars in the world. I mean, honestly, when someone asks your favorite book is your gut answer your real favorite, your current favorite, or what you think will impress someone the most? So I'm going to not follow the rules again, and name my top five.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn // this is probably what I would pick if you made me pick a favorite favorite. I've read this book at least 15 times, that's not an exaggeration. I have a copy that's all ragged + loved. I loved that Francie was like a real life Belle from Beauty + the Beast. She would have lived in a library, she loved to read, and she was real. I kind of want to go read it again..

Harry Potter // whatever. I'm cheating again and choosing an entire series. I'm making up rules as I go, obviously. I grew up with Harry, Ron, + Hermoine. I loved that Hermoine was a positive female role model. She's so smart, doesn't take anyone's crap, and stands up for what she believes in. I remember the very time and place where I was first introduced to the series [sitting criss cross applesauce on the school library floor the first day of the book fair] and I went to every midnight release ever. I'm even rereading the series right now. I love it. Cannot get enough. I'm like ABC Family.

Where The Sidewalk Ends // listen to the musnt's child. I mean, I love anything Shel Silverstein wrote man. I might get all misty every time I read The Giving Tree too. The poems are just so relatable, even for grown ups.
Those are my top three, well I guess top nine since there are seven Harry Potter books. What are your favorite books? Also, what do you think your favorite book says about you? I think my inability to choose just one speaks volumes about my indecision and how I kind of wanted to grow up to be Belle.

Photo Apps I Couldn't Live Without

Okay well that's a rather dramatic title. But let's be for real, no one actually posts "no filter" photos anymore. I know the sunset looked like that to you, but your phone didn't capture it. Oh, you didn't use a filter, you just bumped up the vibrance + saturation? Either way, I never take a picture with the Instagram app, I always use at least one if not all of these before posting to Instagram.

afterlite // this is my absolute favorite. You can edit every aspect of the photo + I'm really a sucker for those frames. makes the whole picture fit in the square Instagram mold..

a beautiful mess // I love love this app because it lets me doodle on pictures, add funny shapes + also automatically makes them fit the Instagram size! [it's ABM in the App store... also their Party Party app is too fun...]
ABM

VSCO cam // can I even claim to be a blogger or amateur photographer if I don't use VSCO? I do love that it lets me work my phone camera like the manual settings on my DSLR though. It's pretty groovy.
VSCO Cam
PS express // dude. this is the best for when you take those low light pictures, because how bad is the iPhone at low light pictures? that's mostly what I use this for, fixing the lighting. it also works great when you want to add saturation to the picture but not turn everyone orange.
PS Express
I figured the best way to demonstrate these would be to use the most flattering picture of myself I could find. So obviously I picked this one.. What apps do you rely on for Instagram

On Instagram Straight Flexin'

I bet you're doing a double take, but she only said she was going to blog every weekday in October!, I did say that, but today's prompt for #Blogtober14 was "favorite picture posted to Instagram" and lets be for real, when have I ever missed a chance to shamelessly plug my Instagram? So while I'm off galavanting at Oktoberfest in Helen, you can check out some of my favorite Instagrams, sorry I can't pick just one..

first of all -- anything Athens related // Athens has my heart. It's my real hometown. It's a place where all of my friends and some of my best memories are. It's a place where we make more memories all the time. You may leave it, but it never leaves you.
two words: throwback. thursday. // or is throw back two words? my entire life has been an awkward stage, and I genuinely love reliving it. Generally with captions like "fashionista" or "yes, I have always been this adorable"

wine // I somehow have my very own hashtag for wine pictures. [check it -- #lemmewineaboutit]. I don't know what it is about wine bottles/glasses/cheese that makes them so fun to take pictures of, but I'm pretty proud of them. Especially the ones where the wine company comments on them. I'm so cool..
That's about it, what are your favorite Instagram pictures? I'll leave you with the last time I saw Santa!!

Wait, She's Saying "Black Widow Baby?"

If I don't take a picture with pumpkins or my shoes in pretty leaves today, will I still be able to call myself a blogger? I feel like that's literally all that my Instagram feed is today. The high today is 87, so nothing says fall like a temperature that high, am I right? Anyways, it's Wednesday, so it's time for confessions!
Vodka and Soda
That Black Widow song came on in the car when we were sitting in traffic coming back from Athens on Saturday, and I was singing along, I thought the words were "I'm gonna love you like I'm packed with a baby" instead of "I'm going to love you, black widow baby" or whatever. packed. with. a. baby.

Last night my roommate and I realized that we could throw Bear's ball at the ceiling when our neighbors start misbehaving and we definitely did that a bunch of times. Stay tuned, because it's only a matter of time before we make a bad throw and break all of the things in the kitchen. Or they might call the leasing office on us..
I wanted to do the #Blogtober14 linkup today, but I could explain what I would do if I won the lottery in one short little list: payoff all of my credit card bills, student loans, etc., buy a jeep wrangler, and then quit my job and travel the world until the money ran out. Maybe I'd put some in a savings account for when I got done traveling. That's it.

Yesterday, when I found out that it was the 16th birthday of Baby, One More Time I maybe cried a little that a song I remember being released was old enough to drive a car. I mean has it really been SIXTEEN YEARS? I don't deal well with getting old y'all.

Saturday we had to sit in our actual seats since they've oversold student tickets and we can't us our student ID's to get into the student section without using them to come in the gate. Our actual seats were in the 600's. SO CLOSE TO THE SUN. I was wearing sunscreen, but still managed to get fried. Even better than my nose looking like Rudolph's is the bangin' cowboy boot tan line I have on my legs. SUPER cute y'all.

That's all I have today! I'm off to plan a visit to the pumpkin patch ASAP [can you believe my roommate has never been to one?!] What do you have to confess today?

OCTOBER GOALS!

Monday is like a bad penny y'all. Keeps showing up. This past weekend, I easily lost ten years off of my life by not breathing for the last three minutes of the UGA game. Then the Falcons broke my heart, again. So let's recap on Weekly Wishes + goals. OH and I guess since October is Wednesday, I should probably set those goals too. I can't handle it. Let's start with September's goals!

september goals ::
increase followers -- Y'ALL. I particpiated in Rebekah's September giveaway and not only did I grow followers, but I made new friends! OH AND I HIT 100 BLOGLOVIN' FOLLOWERS. A HUNDRED!

make more pinable images to strengthen photoshop skills -- I played around with photoshop a lot. even used it to edit all my fancy camera pictures. so, success

take more pictures --  I've already started putting together my September Through the Lens [I always want to spell it lense and that's not a word] post + I took oodles more pictures this month than last month.

blog every weekday in september -- I ONLY HAVE ONE MORE DAY TO GO. y'all. ONE MORE DAY AND I ALREADY WROTE AND SCHEDULED IT! sorry for the screaming.

organize my closet // nope. I actually made it worse. oops. we'll just roll it over to this week..

write + schedule my posts for #blogtober14 // oops. I didn't finish this, but I did start it. soo that's sort of a success.

plan something cool for Thursday because I'm holding the Blog Baton! // oh good! I did accomplish one of them!! I had all sorts of fun holding the Blog Baton last week!

this week's wishes ::
work on my editorial calendar //  so I made one, but I haven't really done anything else with it. Now it's time to plan posts + be organized. boom.

organize my closet... for obvious reasons.

knock three things off of my fall bucket list // uh oh. that's probably a lot. but I have at least one, maybe two planned for this weekend. so I should be able to swing three!

october goals ::
blog every weekday in October // if I could do it in September, why can't I do it in October?

master at least one aspect of manual shooting with my camera // I'm still learning how to get the right lighting + aperture settings down. so I'll keep taking pictures and get better.

get on top of my budget // in line with needing to organize my closet and be an adult, I should really get on top of my budget as well. so I'll be pinning and researching and building something I can really stick to. I promise I'll share if I come across anything super helpful! [other than ebates, because if you shop online and you don't use ebates, you're throwing money away.]

That's it for me today, what are your goals for October?
