To My Fellow Atlanta Fans

It took me an entire day to process Sunday night's game. I honestly think I was heartsick. I preemptively took Monday off, which was a very solid decision because I wouldn't have been any good at work. Side note: why is the Monday after the Super Bowl not a holiday? Or why not have the Super Bowl on a Saturday?
I started Sunday full of hope and nerves. This team has been different this year, no one thought they could do it, and they were out to make a statement. Then Matt Ryan won the MVP and it all started to feel real. This could really be our year. Our chance to escape, if just for a few moments, the "most miserable sports city in America" title being the only one we manage to win.

This was going to be the year we weren't one and done if we actually made the playoffs. The year we could maybe forget about the infield fly in deep left field. just kidding, we'll never get over that one. It was our year to prove people wrong about our level of fandom and support for our teams. It was about so much more than the Lombardi trophy to us.

I think that's what really makes it hurt all the way down to my toes. The first half of that game held so much promise, then we were going to get the ball back after halftime. It was really happening. All we had to do was maintain a 19 point lead. That's it. As a lifelong Atlanta and UGA fan, blowing the second half the way we did was nothing new. I wish it was something surprising and out of character. Maybe that would have dulled the pain.

I'm sure we will be back, maybe sooner rather than later, but it doesn't make this loss sting any less. I definitely don't want to hear it from people who come from winning cities. People expect us to blow it, they talk down at us as a fan base. We're hard to get pumped to play against. No one ever thinks that we're good enough to make it to the big game. We just wanted to prove the world wrong.

So we close out the 2016 NFL season with our mantra of there's always next year. I think that maybe those were my first words. There's always next year. Maybe that's the year we get it together and hold on to that lead. But pitchers & catchers report in 6 days, so maybe this will be the year for the Braves instead.

Atlanta, we love you. We always will.

Brunch So Hard Mother Truckers Wanna Fine Me

Woah woah woah back-to-back blog posts. Who am I even? Confession, I cannot believe I missed last Wednesday for one. #itwasalonelyone #somanyconfessions
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
I am the most excited ever to be going to the Atlanta Steeplechase next weekend. Holla fo a dolla. Or for the VIP party we're going to + the private (air conditioned) bathrooms. That was really the selling point, tbh. #yeahright #butalsotheopenbar #youknowme BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO WEAR. I feel like I need a hat first, dress second, I already have my cowboy boots. What what WHAT should I wear?
haaaaay
Saturday I ran a 5k for mimosas. and dogwoods. I have been searching for all of the booze related races since then. BUT. I walked 1.5 miles to get to the park/starting line, ran the 5k (40 minutes, PR #getatmetho) then walked the 1.5 miles back home. My biggest mistake was taking a nap. I was then down for the count for the rest of the day. Then my entire body hurt until like. last night... #notfastnotlast #notquitefiteither #didntevenwintheweekendwarriorchallenge #andidid6milesbefore10am
jump man jump man jump man WOO
I confess, I instagrammed what looked like a delicious brunch platter (yes, the budweiser was included..) but man was it dissappointing. What wasn't pictured? The donuts + kickass burger we had before the platter got there. Obviously brunch was a success, but we were super bummed by the chef's choices. Who associates various lettuce wraps with brunch? #gimmemorefriedstuff #allgravyeverything #ANDDONUTS #andmimosasduh

The other day at a fancy dinner place, while waiting on my fancy glass of wine, I drank all of my water. When the waiter came to refill my glass, I apologized. I couldn't even tell you what I apologized for THEN when he said "oh don't worry, you're supposed to drink it!" I APOLOGIZED AGAIN. It's a disease y'all. #sorryallthetime #isittoolatenowtosaysooorrrryyyy
air bunnies
I DIE. I die at Joey's air bunnies. He's too funny. ANYWAYS. I'm sure more ridiculous things will happen this week, you should follow along on the twitter. I tweet a lot of ridiculous stuff (and alllll the gifs to be honest.) What ridiculous things happened to y'all this week? HEY PS DON'T FORGET THE CAN OF CORN LINKUP TOMORROW. We can pretend the Braves aren't on pace to go 0-162 this year.....................

"Feels Like 11"

Here we are, already to Wednesday again! I'm sure for most of you it doesn't feel like you've made it too far, but for those of us that had to work on Monday, it's a well earned Wednesday. Except that it's freezing outside. I'm so over winter you guys. I would trade my birthday for it to be like, "low of 65" instead of "high of 38, 90% chance of rain"
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with LoloAlanna & Company

What is most concerning to me about today's forecast is the rain + essentially freezing temperatures. If you recall, the people of Atlanta are not so good with wintery weather. Moreover we're really bad with ice (but excuse me, who is good at driving on ice? we don't have tire chains here, I don't even know what those are for, but we don't have them) #pleasedontsnow #snowpocalypserepeat #devilsdandruff #wedontdowell

I have some issues with this season of Pretty Little Liars. First of all I get it, the plot is just like the first season. Also please stop reading if for some reason you haven't watched the first episode + are worried about spoilers. We know for sure that Cece is dead right? Like that was definitely her? Why is everyone acting so shady right off the bat? Like, come on guys. Also, how is it possible that they've gotten WORSE at lying? They've been doing it for like. ten years now. #getittogetherguys #soshady #butalsoinnocent #orarethey?

This post was going to be longer, but instead of writing last night I decided to start planning a trip to Machu Picchu because doesn't that sound like a great adventure? I'm thinking late this year, maybe around Thanksgiving or so? Has anyone been? Any advice? Also, has anyone used Contiki or some other travel site? Since EF cancelled my referral code, I'm not really so hot on using them again. #adventureisoutthere #mywordof2016 #wanderlust #thattravelbugisREALyall

So, everyone stay safe in that wintery mix today! And please tell me all the travel secrets for Latin America, thanks!

That Time I Found A New Band [almost] All On My Own

Okay. Well not ALL on my own. My friend is a friend of the manager so we went to this show in Little Five. BUT THEY WERE INCREDIBLE and even better? They're all under 21. They're teeny tiny little babies that kick. ass. You have to listen to them. YESTERDAY. do it. Ready? here we go:

They're adorable AND THEY'RE BABIES! So you should follow them all of the places. They have a new ep on iTunes AND they're on spotify! They put on a hell of a show too! Have you listened to von Grey yet?

A Summer To-Do List.

Last year, I made a summer bucket list, and failed pretty miserably at it. So we're just not going to talk about that one. Why it never occurred to this obsessive list maker to make it a summer to-do list instead of a bucket list (ps, why do we like that so much? isn't it things you're supposed to do before you die, aka kick the bucket? we're such an odd group.) Instead, I've put together a list of things I want to do this summer!

  • hike Tallulah Gorge. I'd be lying if I didn't say it was about 95% because of Karen's pictures.
  • finish the Peachtree Road Race in under an hour. (I am going to put this on my goal list until I do it. I have done it faster + faster each year. So, here's hoping right?)
  • explore Oakland Cemetery. I have a weird thing for historical cemeteries.
  • hike Stone Mountain
  • COCKTAILS AT THE ZOO.
  • MEET THE ELEPHANTS.  GUYS I FEEL LIKE THIS IS CHEATING SINCE I KNOW I GET TO DO IT. I AM SO EXCITED I COULD JUST DIE. D. I. E. I TELL YOU
me, IRL
  • Martinis + IMAX at Fernbank
  • What The Tuck at the W Hotel (because you knew with a name like that I'd definitely be going.)
  • DO NOT BUY ANY MORE BATHING SUITS. guys. I have a problem.
  • Read new books. I have a tendency to stick with #nonewbooks because sometimes when I love something so much, I just want to read it over + over + over + over. Take that copy of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn up there for example.
  • Complete Jen's #project3mile (I can't start until this weekend because I didn't pack my running shoes for my week of puppy sitting.)
  • Finish the awesome collage/wall thing I have imagined for my bedroom.
  • UNPLUG. I've been pretty good at this, relatively. I'll volunteer my phone for the tunes + since it's on silent, I only know if someone is calling me. so I guess I get unplug with an asterisk...
I have a pretty good suspicion this list will grow + change. I'm even PUTTING IT IN THE BULLET JOURNAL. So it's all official + such. What are you doing this summer? Want to join me on any of these adventures?! What should I add to my list?

Can We Have Class Outside?

I don't have an explanation for why this week seems so weird. I thought yesterday was Wednesday and that today is Thursday for about most of this morning until I realized we have to do payroll today. Anyways, since it is, in fact, Wednesday today, I have some confessions! (I think that might have been a few spliced commas there, sorry grammar friends.)

#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
I have my credit cards all set up on automatic payments because I forget when they're due like on a monthly basis. #forgetfulfrancie This is set up through them, not even through my bank. So they know the payment is coming. Okay? So one of them has their system set up to where you can't pick the day it's autodrafted, it's the day the payment is due. It's a little dumb if you ask me. THEY ALSO call me about four hundred times on the day that it's due saying that I haven't made a payment. It makes me hashtag crazy pants.

I'm not sure I want to watch tonight's Nashville. Based on the previews, something bad is going to happen. I swear if ABC kills of Derek Shepherd + Deacon in the same month, I won't ever watch anything on ABC ever again. Maybe give up TV all together. I just can't take it, do you hear me ABC? #thatsanemptythreat #pleasedontthough

It is 80 degrees and sunny outside all the time now and all I want to do is lay by the pool and read books and drink margaritas. I feel like we all deserve some kind of award for being even remotely productive during the summer. Especially those of you in Florida, I don't know how you do it.
I Have A-D... something
Our apartment is somewhere between a disaster and really pathetic and empty. We've taken everything off the walls, but all of the nails are still there. It honestly looks like the Grinch swung by last weekend. It's bumming me out man. I'm ready to be in our new apartment, but this purgatory period is killin' me. #movinonup #toadeluxapartment #inabasement #notthesky
shut up shut up shut UPPPPPPPPP
People have been such JERKS on the road lately. I don't know if you're aware, but it is physically impossible for me to go any faster than the car in front of me, but you know, if you get really close to my bumper, it's totally going to change the laws of physics. #onefingersalute #roadrage #atlantadriversaretheworst

That's all folks. What do you have to confess today? It's 2015, why don't we have flying cars that drive themselves yet?

GUYS IT'S BACK!

Okay. OKAY. I AM SO EXCITED I CAN'T EVEN USE LOWERCASE LETTERS. Around The Hornwas so much fun that obviously we had to do something else for the regular season! SO. I got together with Allison AND HAVE WE GOT A SHOW FOR YOU (veggieee taaaales veggie taaaaales veeegiiieee tales... veg-ie-tales. you're welcome.) *DRUM ROLL PLEASE* announcing the 7th Inning Stretch Linkup!
THE RULES ARE SUPER EASY:

  • write about baseball on the last Thursday of every month this season. if you're stumped, check out our prompts. if you're not stumped, we wanna read what you have too!
  • use the button! or just link back to me + Allison (WE CAN DO ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIAS TOO!)
  • link up!

  • 7th Inning Stretch Link Up
  • make new friends who like baseball!
  • have a cold beer.
okay, that last step is optional, but I mean, I'm gonna do it. SO. Here are our suggestions (I use 'our' lightly, they're 100% Allison's idea.. lalalalaaa)
  • April 16th : pick your pretend fantasy team!
    • Only pick players who are currently on a major league roster
    • Choose 8 players for your starting lineup, 5 starting pitchers, and 2-3 relievers??
    • I believe there should be a constitutional amendment against the Designated Hitter (name that movie for bonus points..) so just don't draft them. or lose points at a position. #sorryboutcha AL.
    • the rules are made up + the points don't matter
  • May 21st : favorite ballpark(s)? Why?
  • June 18th : All-Star picks and predictions
  • July 16th : best promotions and theme nights, or what promos/themes would you plan for your team?
  • August 20th : if I was commissioner...
  • September 17th : favorite baseball books + movies (I can't promise I'll like you more if you pick Casey at the Bat..... but I can't promise you I won't.....)
  • October 15th : recap your fantasy team, share favorite moments, season highlights, fun stories, update your World Series Predictions.

YAY! OH YAY I am so excited. Are you excited?! I AM EXCITED. Are you going to join us? PLEASE JOIN US! We're going to have so much baseball themed fun. It can literally be anything ANYTHING baseball related!
dance dance dance
Okay. So that was a lot of capital letters + shouting (does your reading voice shout at you when things are in all caps? I READ THEM LOUDER IN MY HEAD!) For good measure, here's a love song about cheeseburgers.

Atlanta Botanical Garden Lights

Saturday night I took my little brother to the Garden Lights at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. At a cool $41.50 for the two of us to go, I maybe expected too much out of the trip. Somehow, I've never been to the gardens before period. That might make me a bad Atlanta resident. This sounds like a terribly negative review. It's not. We had a great time, I took a lot of fun pictures, but I don't think I will be going back. Also, I wouldn't recommend waiting in line for the Rainforest adventure, but I would recommend getting a drink from the bar first. Anyways, here are some of my pictures! I recently bought a "nifty fifty" lens so I figured why not figure out how to use it by taking pictures of Christmas lights?
Have you been to see the lights? What did you think about them?
