Kitchen Sink Sangria

Who has two thumbs + edited these photos but forgot to upload them in time for last Thursty Thursday? THIS GIRL! So. Let's talk sangria. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and that's what happened a couple weekends ago. I went to a wedding shower and some how came home with like pounds of fresh fruit. I wasn't going to be able to eat it all before it went bad, so obviously it meant it was sangria time, right?
kitchen sink sangria
So, I'm not too worried about the arsenic or whatever in two buck chuck. I'll gamble with it. So, I like I said, I came home with a bunch of fruit. I had some rum, grabbed two bottles of merlot from TJ's, and went to work. I checked pinterest + found all sorts of fancy recipes, but decided to go for it.
  • 2 Bottles of Red Wine
  • roughly a cup of rum....
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • splash of Grand Mariner
  • fresh fruits
I mixed all of this in that super cute [margariiita] pitcher, covered the pitcher with plastic wrap, and let it sit over night! You know, so the fruit gets good + boozy. It. Was. DELICIOUS. you know, if I do say so myself.... Also, please notice the mess I made trying to pour the wine in the pitcher. Why anyone thought it was reasonable to make countertops white is beyond me. What are you sippin' on this Thursty Thursday?

Hopelessly Ever After

Hey Now Hey Now Hey Now

TODAY I managed to turn my smart alarm off instead of snoozing it (so halfway conscious Kasey is a wunderkind.) I also managed to save the morning by grabbing the last Poptart. So now we're pretty even, Wednesday. SO I figured since I didn't actually schedule a post today, I'd join Lauren + Lauren for a confessional #HashtagHumpday.
#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
OKAY THE NEW INSTAGRAM UPDATE. #sorryno I don't care enough about hashtagging emojis for the interface to look so much like Tinder. I mean, I'm not tindering, I'm stalking pretty pictures on Instagram. Also hashtagged emojis are weird.
I'm applying for forty gazillion jobs, just for my good health right? I keep finding awesome job descriptions, then when I click on it it's all "OKAY GIVE US YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER SO WE CAN SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION!" WHAT. How is that okay? I need a job to make money, why should I have to spend money to apply? If I just had the cash flow of Bruce Wayne, do you think I'd be spending hours tweaking my resume + updating my LinkedIn? #NOPE.

I have been having nightmares about Derek Shepherd. So apparently I'm not over that one yet. Like I really don't know if I'll make it through this week's episode. I really thought Meredith was going to have a good, nice, happy ending. Is this the last season? #tearsofgreys #BUTSHONDAWHY
UGH
Okay also I #cantstopwontstop jamming to this one. PLUS HOW CUTE IS THIS VIDEO?

How's your humpday going?

April: Through The Lens

HELLO HOW ON EARTH IS IT MAY ON FRIDAY? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm beyond ready for summer, and SUPER pumped to move to the Virginia Highlands at the end of May, but wasn't I just in Europe or counting down to baseball season? Has it REALLY been a whole month since I finished 30 Days at the Barre? Okay. Well how about we see what happened according to my camera + instagram?
1 - 3: First of all, I 'grammed more food that normal because of Helene's #30PhotosInbetween. I'm pretty proud of that queso one, because I captioned it "in queso emergency" guys I am the funniest.
4: HAD to catch a River Dogs game while I was in Charleston, I really think you should check out your local MiLB team tooo.
5: Embracing my inner flower child
6 + 7: I really like to force my love on my little brothers...
9: mom + I went to the Zoo + I THINK I AM GOING TO GET TO MEET AN ELEPHANT GUYS.
10:  A professional photographer took this super adorable picture of me + put it on the internet.
11: a super soggy Braves home opener!

What did you get up to in April?

Oh Heeeeey Monday

First of all. I watched that episode of Grey's yesterday. Even with the social media spoilers, I was not prepared at all. Like. SHONDA. Come on. Like. I knew it was going to happen, but that didn't stop me from ugly crying on the sofa in the middle of the day over a TV program. So. Since I'm still reeling from that + the events of last week, I thought I would share some fun internet things! First of all, SATURDAY Jen, her manly friend, and I went TO SPACE JAM NIGHT with the Charleston Riverdogs. We did not get the Bill Murray jerseys though.
A photo posted by Kasey Decker (@kdsmoove) on

First of all. I am a lover of all things flower related. ESPECIALLY the ones you can wear in your hair. I've seen the pinterest DIY's + failed miserably at them. BUT. I have recently seen two tutorials I know I can do + make them look pretty. First, Michelle's Reign inspired flower crown is SO pretty. THEN TODAY Helen made this adorable mermaid like one. So, I'm making a flower crown this week. It's happening.
Up next, I found this on pinterest while trying to decide how to do my hair for a job interview. (side note, guys have it so easy. wake up, hair already done.) So obviously I made my parents watch Kimmy Schmidt after finding it, because then I had an excuse to watch them all again! hasbrown no filter.

LAST but not least, did you catch this? I have been known to spend hours on solid reddit threads, you just kind of get lost in the theories. BUT THIS IS A HARRY POTTER ONE that might explain why the Durselys were so terrible.

So there you go, Monday! I hope you're coffee is strong + your workday is surprisingly short. What's new with everyone?

Earth Day!

Hey, if you expected anything other than an Earth Day post from your friendly, should have lived in the 60's, flower child, then you haven't been paying attention. Let's start with Jared Leto telling us what kind of animal he'd be according to the google doodle today.

You should totally take the quiz too. Aren't you glad I have so many productive things for you to do? Turns out I'm a pangolin + practical knowing when to curl up? Now. If Jared Leto can't convince you that the earth is the best, here are a bunch of adorable animal bffs.
I originally meant for this to be longer, but I just keep watching the friends furever + singing about Robin Hood + Little John. So, I'm going to accept defeat + go outside to instagram some flowers. What are you doing to make Mother Earth a better place today? I bet it's a really good day to go to the zoo!
Write or Die Wednesdays

I Have A Few Questions...

Okay, so I've been catching up on my tv + I have some serious questions for everyone involved. First of all, let's start with Elementary (you know because that's what I am currently watching

Elementary:
HOW does no one connect that there is a man, from London, named SHERLOCK HOLMES working + living with one Doctor Watson. How how does no one put that together? Is this a present day NYC where everything is the same save the Sherlock Holmes novels were never written?
source
Grey's Anatomy:
WHY does anyone want to work at this hospital where like, every possible bad thing happens? How was Christina the only one smart enough to get out of what is like a modern day hellmouth? Also, why do SO MANY bad things happen in Seattle? Are there not any other hospitals out there?
source
Pretty Little Liars:
WHAT THE HELL ARE ALL OF THE ADULTS DOING IN ROSEWOOD? Seriously. I mean I have other questions, but that's really the biggest one. THEY GET KIDNAPPED FROM JAIL. how HOW?
source
How I Met Your Mother:
Okay, I binge on this on Netflix to fall asleep. First of all, why does Ted tell his kids about his one night stands but won't talk about marijuana? Why did they have to ruin it with that last season? Will I ever get over that? How do they afford those apartments? DAMNIT TRUDY WHAT ABOUT THE PINEAPPLE?!
source
Scandal:
SHONDA. Why you gotta be that way? (that's all I'm gonna say because hashtag no spoilers.)
Okay. I just realized I have way more questions. So this is just going to have to be a multi-part thing. Gotta keep ya coming back for more, right? Do you have the answers to any of these?!

Scaly Slimy Spectacular

OKAY SO GUYS. My mom works for a company that does cash register + inventory software, SO WE GOT TO GO TO ZOO ATLANTA. We got a sneak peek of the Scaly Slimy Spectacular! Okay. It was way too cool. I completely recommend it. You should go. I'll go with you. I love the zoo! (if that doesn't make it clear, I'm just excited + I didn't get anything to write this, but I am totally up for Zoo perks.)
I walked up to this guy + he looked right at my camera. Posing. He wanted his picture made, obviously.
They have this new video game where you answer trivia questions + build your own super reptile like pokemon. It's adorable + obviously fun for all ages, since my mom didn't want to leave until she finished her reptile. SPEAKING OF my mom.
This anaconda was trying to escape. He was ready to get out of there, all Harry Potter style. Like everyone kept checking to make sure he didn't have a way out. Also he was standing like six feet off the ground. obviously, he wasn't too worried about buns, hun.
They also have these super cool new thing where it's a tablet + you can pick the exhibit you're looking at + learn all of the facts. Maybe I'm a super nerd, because I was totally enthralled. I just really dig learning. So, there's that.
They weren't there yet, BUT THERE ARE GOING TO BE ALLIGATORS! I think they're pretty cool. PLUS THE GIANT TURTLES are getting a new place to hang.  Guys. This exhibit is way better than the old reptile room. My next mission is to meet an elephant. I'll keep you guys up to date on how that process is going. Have you been to the zoo lately?!

Don't Think Meat, It's Bad For The Ballclub

GUYS IT'S HERE IT'S REALLY HERE IT'S TIME! Okay. so really fast the boring rules + stuff...

THE RULES ARE SUPER EASY:

  • write about baseball on the third Thursday of every month this season. if you're stumped, check out our prompts. if you're not stumped, we wanna read what you have too!
  • use the button! or just link back to me + Allison (WE CAN DO ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIAS TOO!)
  • link up!

  • 7th Inning Stretch Link Up
  • make new friends who like baseball!
  • have a cold beer.
okay, that last step is optional, but I mean, I'm gonna do it. SO. Here are our suggestions (I use 'our' lightly, they're 100% Allison's idea.. lalalalaaa)
  • April 16th : pick your pretend fantasy team!
    • Only pick players who are currently on a major league roster
    • Choose 8 players for your starting lineup, 5 starting pitchers, and 2-3 relievers??
    • I believe there should be a constitutional amendment against the Designated Hitter (name that movie for bonus points..) so just don't draft them. or lose points at a position. #sorryboutcha AL.
    • the rules are made up + the points don't matter
  • May 21st : favorite ballpark(s)? Why?
  • June 18th : All-Star picks and predictions
  • July 16th : best promotions and theme nights, or what promos/themes would you plan for your team?
  • August 20th : if I was commissioner...
  • September 17th : favorite baseball books + movies (I can't promise I'll like you more if you pick Casey at the Bat..... but I can't promise you I won't.....)
  • October 15th : recap your fantasy team, share favorite moments, season highlights, fun stories, update your World Series Predictions.
OKAY. now that thaaat is out of the way. Are you ready for my fantasy team? Obviously I picked them after my fair share of wine while watching Friends (because the Braves game today is already over....) SO. HERE we go. In, you know, opening day position order. (you know, pitcher, catcher, first base, second base, third base, short stop, etc.)

Starting Pitcher: Clayton Kershaw. Because, he can throw the ball pretty hard, he's adorable, and pretty good at ping pong...
source
Catcher: Yadier Molina. Because Javy Lopez + Crash Davis weren't options, plus he's not even going to let the mascot steal second. We'll just pretend he doesn't play for the Cardinals. ugh.
First Base: Freddie Freeman. For his dance moves, hugs, + ability to do the splits.
I have used + reused this .gif so many times, I really don't know who made it + I am sorry.
Second Base: Dustin Pedrioa the Destroyah. Because that nickname. Also they call him laser show. Also he's adorable. And really good at second base. And five foot nothing. Did I mention adorable? Plus he can hit that high inside fastball.
Third Base: David Wright. Because he always hits well against the Braves, he's good on the hot corner, + when he's focusing he sticks his tongue out...
source!
Short Stop: Andrelton Simmons. Because in my imaginary ballpark we will 100% have Simba Cam ; plus, nothing gets by him out there.
I took this from google images. I'm sure it belongs to someone, if it's you, let me know!
Left Field: Giancarlo Stanton. Because of this:
Center Field: Mike Trout, because he's adorable + pretty good at simon says. Plus I like that he stays out of trouble. Did I mention he's good at simon says?
Right Field: Nelson Cruz, because people like to call him Nelly + also he's pretty good at hitting the ball.
Closing Pitcher: Craig Kimbrel, because I miss him + we won't ever see this again.

Three Other Pitchers: Big Time Timmy Jim ; Jason Grilli ; Trevor Bauer because of this.

That's it!!! That's my team. I am zero parts sorry for picking more than one player because he was adorable. I'm not going to keep up with them if I don't have something worth watching. I also love to watch all of these guys play. So there's that. SO who ya got? Link up here!!!

I Was Born In The Wrong Decade.

I AM SO PUMPED ABOUT WRITE OR DIE TODAY + 7TH INNING STRETCH TOMORROW. hashtag allllll the linkups!

I have, for literally my entire life, felt like I didn't belong in this time period. I alternate between a few periods I would have liked to live. I go through phases as to which decade it should have been. The first time I read Gone With The Wind I was hooked on history. I wanted to live in the 1800's and wear giant hoop skirts and ride around in buggies and go to parties that included naps. This also launched my mild obsession with the overall US Historical Fiction genre. Don't get me started on the books. I could talk about books for ever.
source

THEN I SAW TITANIC. First of all. there was enough room for two people Rose. ENOUGH ROOM FOR TWO. Anyways. Then I wanted to live in that time, it seemed so glamorous. Even though Rose was being made to marry that awful man. Then, my obsession with Titanic led to the Roaring Twenties, which obviously led to Gatsby. I will be honest. I am still obsessed with Gatsby and I really don't see that being something I will ever grow out of... #alittlepartyneverkillednooobody #sorrynotsorry -- actually. now that I think about it, maybe I just wanted to be wooooed by Leo...
source
However, if you know me at all, you know those aren't the decades I truly belong in. Let's be for real. I belong in that 1960's, flowers in your hair, bare feet running through the fields, era. Long flowy skirts, mermaid hair, and lots of girl power before it was an affront to men. It was great because everything was groovy, man. (plus no one rolled their eyes at you for saying 'groovy, man')
grooooovy baby
So, that's that. I belong in the sixties. I don't think that surprises anyone, really. What decade do you belong in? Check out all of the fun places I'm linking up today! AND COME BACK TOMORROW FOR BASEBALL THINGS!!!!!

Outfield Wall Rockstars

I guess I haven't explained why I call my sponsors my outfield wall. Let's be honest.  I thought I was clever, you know like at a baseball stadium they sell ads out on the outfield walls. ANYWAYS. These two megababes are the real rock stars, they are two of my VERY FIRST sponsors EVER. Also. I have to be the most honest -- I sponsored a bunch of really fantastic bloggers + used my experience to build my sponsorship program + hands down my favorite in-post feature was with Nina over at Flowers in My Hair. So I definitely got all inspiration for this post from her!

1. Hi I'm Kati Rose from Constantly Seeking Wonder! My blog is a place where I stay connected and appreciate things such as music, entertainment, art, travel, and more. Sometimes I've even learned to talk about my life from time to time too. I guess readers enjoy that or something? (That was sarcasm, I use that a lot too.)
2. My wildest dream came true in 2014 when I was selected to attend The GRAMMYs. I got to do everything from attending the exclusive parties to walking the red carpet. It still doesn't feel real. Pinch me.
3. Being such a music nerd, if I had a travel show (because I've got the wanderlust bug bad too) I would feature all the interesting sites around the world that are related to music. I could start in my home state of Minnesota with Bob Dylan, Prince, and even Nirvana history.
 4. I'm a bit of a free spirit. One of my loves is Penny Lane from the movie Almost Famous. If I had to pick a cultural piece that impacted me, it would have to be this movie. It taught me about life, love, and following my passions. Plus, it made me realize there were other kindred people that got just as excited about music as I did.
5. I think guilty pleasures are dumb. If you love something, do it wholeheartedly. Who is anyone to judge what I enjoy? This would be why I traveled across the country to see a band many would turn up their noses at. Guess what - I had the time of my life doing it too.
6. People call me the queen of playlists. If you want a selection of perfectly curated tunes for a specific moment or purpose, chances are I've got you covered. My favorite one of late was my ode to spring because who doesn't enjoy listening to music that makes you feel like sunshine and happiness? 7. I love to travel and explore new places. Everyday it seems like my list is growing. One of the perks of my current life situation is that I've been able to do that extensively, but even better I've gotten to treat my family to trips too. Recently I took my cousin on his first plane ride and realized there were 10 tips to help anxious flyers that really worked well.
8. When I can't explore new cities, I like to get find adventures in my own state. Constantly seeking wonder and all that yeah? Sometimes it's the ordinary in snowcapped Duluth and Lake Superior and other times it's admiring the beautiful and the sad in a once acclaimed but now abandoned decaying asylum.
9. Yes, that is One Direction. If you didn't catch it above I love them dearly and I'm not ashamed. Chances are I'll bring them up at least once a month. The boys are one of the musical acts I've been lucky to work on my concert photography with. One Direction aren't the only celebrities I enjoy talking about though. I ponder the ins and outs of the entertainment world in unique and often controversial ways. My favorite post to date? The Cult of Celebrity and Why Group Think is Scary. <--- I'm still surprised the Beygency hasn't come after me for that one.

A Little Monday Motivation

OH HEY MONDAY. Sometimes, sometimes y'all I feel bad for Monday. Why does Monday catch such a bad rap? (wrap? huh. they both look right....) I am probably the most productive on Monday mornings, to be honest. I think it's because everyone is so down on Monday that we already set the bar for being a person pretty low, which makes it pretty easy to knock it out of the park. Right? Anyways, in case SOMEBODY has a case of the Mondays, I have some motivational stuff for you!

Let's get this started off with a little humblebrag huh? Helene picked one of MY PICTURES for her Instagram highlight Saturday. I did a little bit of a celebratory dance, so come at me. Its the little things in life you guys.

UP NEXT. I learned the best trick in the entire world. I am not taking any credit for this. I just can't remember what blog I read it on at the moment. BUT THERE IS A "RECIPE" FOR MAKING INSTAGRAM PICTURES SHOW UP AS NATIVE PICTURES IN THE TWITTER. I swore I pinned the article after I did the signing up + such. ANYWAYS. You just create an account at If This, Then That + use THIS RECIPE. THEN when you Instagram a picture, you don't send it to twitter, the app automatically does it for you. HOW. COOL. IS. THAT? See below:
HOW COOL IS THAT!? Okay. Now, while I'm in mostly all caps, LET ME REMIND YOU ABOUT THURSDAY'S BIG ANNOUNCEMENT -- this coming Thursday is the first of our 7th Inning Stretch Linkup + we can't wait to see everyone!! What is getting you pumped this manic Monday?

GUYS IT'S BACK!

Okay. OKAY. I AM SO EXCITED I CAN'T EVEN USE LOWERCASE LETTERS. Around The Hornwas so much fun that obviously we had to do something else for the regular season! SO. Okay. So that was a lot of capital letters + shouting (does your reading voice shout at you when things are in all caps? I READ THEM LOUDER IN MY HEAD!) For good measure, here's a love song about cheeseburgers.

Bloom

Okay. I thought that I broke blogger for a solid 24 hours. That was pretty terrifying. I apparently didn't, but you have to let me know if tomorrow's post looks weird or comes out in all HTML or whatever. ANYWAYS. I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack for Write or Die Wednesday!

Guys. I don't know if you have noticed or not, but I have a thing for flowers. I love them. I need fresh flowers in my house. All. The. Time. Did you know today's pollen count is 2,256? Yesterday, when I was driving to the gym, the air was yellow. There was so much pollen that THE AIR WAS TOO SATURATED WITH POLLEN TO BE CLEAR. It's okay. BECAUSE FLOWERS.

If you don't already accept the obsession, let's take a quick instagram check.

I even have pens at my desk that are wrapped in florists tape with big fake flowers at the top. I might have a problem. But. But. But. They're just so pretty. I think they make the world so happy. What do you think?

Wanderlust Wishlist

GUYS. It's no secret that I have been bitten by the Wanderlust bug + that I love a good link up + low + behold I found one that combines the two! (by found I mean Maddie found my blog + told me about her link up + obviously I loved it.) The prompt for April was: the most memorable place you've traveled + why. I though HELLO EUROPE because it was my first ever real adventure and I did it all. by. myself. I feel like I've hammered that into y'all enough lately so I thought I would pick places I want to travel now that I've started.

FIRST OF ALL. This list will probably get longer rather than shorter. I assume that you can take this list + my wanderlust pinterest board as my still-not-conclusive-list-of-adventures

  • Tulips in Amsterdam
  • Meet elephants in India AND Africa
  • Yacht Week
  • Versailles gardens in the summer, really most of France in the summer..
  • Machu Picchu
  • San Fermín Festival in Spain
  • 2018 World Cup
  • 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro
  • Oktoberfest in Munich
  • Mardi Gras in New Orleans
  • Carnival in Brazil
  • Thailand.
  • Australia.
  • New Zealand.
  • Stay in a tree house in Costa Rica
  • The Greek Isles
  • Barcelona
  • Everywhere on this list (maybe my own boozy tour of Europe in general....)
  • Turks + Caicos
  • Ireland. all of it.
  • Scotland.
  • The Muggle Tour in London.
That's just a start. Let's be honest. I would live out of my suitcase for the rest of my life if it meant I got to see everything. Where do you want to go?

The Endless Weeked

HAPPY OPENING DAY!

Do NOT talk to me about the Kimbrel trade. I'm not over it yet. Prospects are great, but you know, we need some people to play this year + next year. I can't deal. So today I WAS GOING TO SHARE a playlist for tailgating but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what happened to Spotify's "embed" feature. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT GUYS?. Hashtag not over it. Anyone going to a game today? ANYONE GOING TO THE GAME FRIDAY? if so, we should totes hang out.

SO. Since I can't embed my playlist. I'm going to share some pictures from last year's Braves season. You know, when we could all name at  least 10 men on the roster....

So I'm sure we'll all have new favorite players, and come 2017 have a team that can string together a fair amount of wins, but until then we'll continue to be the most miserable sports city in America...
