What Lights Your Fire?

I had too much fun with Write or Die Wednesday last week, even if the title made it seem a little bit like I was about to write an article about marijuana... whooops. This week's prompt is what lights your fire? This one is hard for me, because I've been battling a lot of personal life career things.

For the longest time, my passion has been the way a kid's face lights up when they walk into a ballpark. If you're ever feeling down? Watch a kid when a ballplayer gives him a foul ball. I mean, even if that kid doesn't like baseball, it's like Christmas. I've always wanted to make sure that every kid who wants to play, every kid who wants to go to a ball game, has that chance.

My current free agency period has made me question everything about that fire. It has made me question how I can do that with it possibly not being my career, because how many times are you supposed to get back up after a door is slammed in your face? How many times are you supposed to hear "no" before you start to question whether or not you made the right plan?

Sorry, that got heavy really fast. I just feel that it is most important to give back. I'm a firm believer in karma, what goes around comes around. If you do good in the world, the world will do good for you, even if it's just the reward of seeing a kid who wouldn't have been able to play baseball get a foul ball from a professional athlete.

  1. Karma is definitely a thing. I try to teach the kids this in a round about way without telling them "welp, karma's just a bitch." lol. I think if you keep perusing what you love the right thing will come along. Sometimes the "no's" are there to make us stronger. even though it may not seem like it at the time.

  2. Oh, Kasey. I feel you so hard! I'm in the same boat, and just when I felt like I was figuring it out, I got pregnant with my 3rd child and knew that I would be a stay-at-home-mom again (at least until he starts kindergarten).

I feel like my calling and career keeps on experiencing setbacks. And I'm not getting any younger. I feel blessed to be staying home with my son though, and I will use this time at home to sharpen my skills and reflect on what I really want to do in life.

I really hope you continue pursuing your passion. YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE PURSUING IT! Cause I can feel your passion about it in your writing. One day you will hear that "no" be replaced with a resounding "YES!" :)

  5. that's what I keep hoping! I'm just worried that maybe I'm missing a sign that my calling is something different, something else. If maybe that door is being closed to open up something even better. I just don't know!

  8. Kasey, I absolutely agree with you - doing good for the sole sake of giving back and spreading light in the world - there's nothing better than that. It's its own reward!

With that being said, I've got to throw out a lyric from Journey here... Don't stop believing! Seriously, though. I think it says a lot about you and your character that you are still picking yourself back up when that door gets slammed. Keep that fire! I have faith that one day, you will be rewarded for your persistence!

Thanks so much for linking up with us!! :)
